Abstract
The provision of Quality-of-Service to multimedia applications in Internet is currently a hot research topic. Many approaches, architectures, models and protocols have been proposed in the literature. The proposals impact on the whole system architecture. So far, only a few of them have been implemented and tested. The standardization process is far to be completed. In this paper, we discuss and compare three multicast routing algorithms that have been proposed in the literature, aiming at characterizing tree structures according to the QoS constraints imposed by either the traffic sources or the recipients. Two of those algorithms have been evaluated by means of simulations.
