Abstract
Transition to IPv6 has been recognized as the trend of future Internet. Since a huge amount of resources have been invested on current IPv4-based Internet, how to smoothly transit the Internet from IPv4 to IPv6 is a very important research topic. This paper surveys the state of the art in IPv6 transition, summarizes and compares different IPv6 transition mechanisms and scenarios, discusses the security issues in IPv6 transition, and presents the possible directions for future research.
