Starting in Fall 2018, the Einstein Fellowship is administered from STScI as part of the NASA Hubble Fellowship Program (NHFP), which also includes Hubble and Sagan Fellows. The latest updates can be found at the NHFP website.

The application deadline was Thursday, Nov 3, 2016 for 2017 Einstein Fellowship appointments. Letters of reference are due Thu, Nov 10. See the Call for Proposals.

A total of 163 applications were received for the 2016 Einstein Fellowship competition. Thirteen Fellowships will be awarded. The committee has finished their deliberations and all candidates have been notified including nine applicants on the waitlist.
2015 Einstein Fellow Philipp Moesta and team have found that in the collapse of a massive star into a neutron star huge magnetic fields are produced sufficient to collimate a jet and drive a jet-driven supernova. Read more here.
