Español: Fachada NNE nor-noreste, pueden observarse los 9 basamentos, y gran parte de los paneles en bajorrelieve. En la parte superior del templete puede verse la única de las 20 almenas que adornaban el techo, durante las ceremonias los mayas itzáes solían colocar 20 banderas de plumas. En el inferior de la escalinata central se observan dos cabezas de serpiente emplumadas adornando el inicio o final de los balaustres o pretiles.

Türkçe: Chichén Itzá'daki Kukulkán (okunuşuyla Kukuul Kaan) Piramidi'nin kuzey cephesi. Mayalar bu piramidi astronomi ve matematik bilgilerini ortaya koymak istercesine belirli bir sistemle inşa etmişlerdir. Örneğin piramidin dört cephesinin her birinde 91 basamak yer alır. Böylece 4x91’le bulduğumuz 364 sayısına en tepedeki düzlüğü de +1 olarak eklediğimizde yıldaki günlerin sayısı olan 365’i buluruz. Ayrıca, piramidi yönlendirme ve inşa etme tercihleri sayesinde, ilkbahar ve sonbaharda ekinoksların gerçekleştiği anlarda, güneş ışınları, piramidin çıkıntıları sayesinde, merdiven basamaklarının dibinde bulunan iki yılan başı yontusunun "S’ler çizen bir gövde uzantısı" oluşacak şekilde bir gölge oluşturmasını sağlar. (İki başlı yılan) Bu yılan, piramidin tepesindeki bir tüylü yılan oymasından anlaşılabileceği gibi, Kukulkan adıyla bilinen ilah tüylü yılandır.[1] (Yılanın, vücudunun gökcisimlerinin yörüngelerinin şeklini alabilmesi yani S'ler çizebilmesi özelliğinden ötürü Mayalar’da göksel bir sembol olarak seçilmiş olduğu düşünülür.). |
