English: An Environmental Protection Agency monitor exchanges a thermoluminescent dosimeter at a station located in Nevada. This station, one of 79 located in Nevada, Utah and California, measures gamma exposure rates from background radiation as well as any accidental release of radioactivity resulting from the DOE weapons testing program. The EPA monitors off-site radiation exposure under agreement with the DOE to provide safety programs for persons living around the Nevada Test Site. |
