Shelter Town (Japanese: コマコタウン Komako Town) is an animated series-exclusive location in the snowy northern part of the Sinnoh region. It is located near Snowpoint City and it was featured in Battling a Cute Drama!.
After leaving Sandalstraw Town, Ash and his friends arrived in Shelter Town through a mountain tunnel and stopped by the local Pokémon Center, where they met Marilyn, a Trainer obsessed with cuteness. Upon seeing Dawn's Buneary, Marilyn challenged Dawn to a battle, and the two faced off in the Pokémon Center's battlefield.
While battling Dawn, Marilyn had her Cherubi acting as if it was in pain so as to add drama to the battle. Brock, who was refereeing the match, became irritated by this and told her to take the battle seriously. Marilyn did and eventually defeated Dawn. After that, Brock asked Marilyn if she would like to have a battle with him. Having noticed that Marilyn would look down on Pokémon failing to meet her criteria for cuteness, Brock wanted to teach her about inner beauty through a battle.
Marilyn agreed to battle Brock and, after witnessing how Brock's Sudowoodo and Croagunk could be valiant regardless of their looks, understood what Brock was telling her and sent out a Shellder to face off against his Happiny. The battle was interrupted by Team Rocket, who wanted to steal Marilyn's cute-looking Pokémon and give them to Giovanni. However, Shellder and Happiny combined their strength to send them blasting off.
Dawn's mother, Johanna, also sent a package to her and the others through Nurse Joy containing winter clothing.
Trivia
- Shelter Town appears to be a reference to the shelter found on Route 216.
