Cassiopeia first interacts with the player in Naranja Academy'sS/Uva Academy'sV cafeteria through their Rotom Phone, having hacked it in order to reach them. They recruit the player into their mission, Operation Starfall, which is to bring down Team Star by defeating its five squad bosses, scattered around Paldea in their respective bases, and their "big boss" who founded the team.
When the player is close to a base, Cassiopeia will call and brief them on the base and its squad boss. Once the player has defeated the squad boss, Cassiopeia will call again and reward the player with League Points and an increased variety of TMs in the TM Machine. Cassiopeia also summons Penny of Operation Starfall's supply unit to give the player a bonus reward, which is a lot of Pokémon materials. Clive gives the player their bonus reward instead of Penny after the player has defeated their fifth base.
The player is rewarded with increasing quantities of LP after defeating each squad boss for the first time.
- 5,000 for defeating one squad boss.
- 6,000 for defeating two squad bosses.
- 7,000 for defeating three squad bosses.
- 10,000 for defeating four squad bosses.
- 20,000 for defeating five squad bosses.
After defeating all the squad bosses, Cassiopeia reveals that they were the "big boss" and tells the player to meet them at the schoolyard of Naranja AcademyS/Uva AcademyV after dark, where their true identity is revealed.

Pokémon Adventures
Cassiopeia debuted in PASV02. They were first seen speaking to Scarlet, congratulating her for successfully enrolling in Uva Academy. Their conversation was interrupted by Nemona, who was hoping to challenge Scarlet to a battle.
In PASV04, Cassiopeia contacted Violet by hacking into his Rotom Phone, Rotojī. Violet and Arven were recruited as members of Operation Starfall, a plan to defeat the five squad bosses of Team Star, forcing the group to disband. Days later, Cassiopeia and the others arrived at the Segin Squad's Base, only to be approached by Clavell. Disguised as a student named Clive, Clavell asked to join Operation Starfall as well, which Cassiopeia accepted. Inside the base, Violet battled the Segin Squad's boss, Giacomo, and won. Accepting his defeat, Giacomo stepped down as boss before revealing that Team Star was waiting for their true leader, the "big boss", to return.
In PASV06, it was revealed that Cassiopeia had previously tried to recruit Scarlet for Operation Starfall, but she had demanded to be granted access to Uva Academy before she'd even agree to listen to Cassiopeia's request. Although Cassiopeia had successfully falsified Scarlet's records to make her seem like an exchange student and thus granted her entrance to the academy, she still refused to help them out, having only agreed to listen to their request, not to accept it.
Trivia
- Cassiopeia is the only Team Star boss who does not use a Starmobile during their first battle.
- Cassiopeia shares their name in French with Gym Challenger Pia, a possible opponent in Wyndon Stadium Champion tournaments in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
- Each of Team Star's five squads is named after a star in the Cassiopeia constellation, foreshadowing Cassiopeia's status as the team's "big boss". In addition, the locations of the squads' bases on Paldea's map match the form of the constellation.
