The city of Mesa, Arizona, held elections for mayor and city council on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on August 30, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 1, 2016. Three of the six city council seats were up for election.[1] Ryan Winkle defeated Jerry Lewis in the Mesa City Council, District 3 primary election.[2]
