Philip Lammens is a federal magistrate judge on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.[1] He was appointed to this position on July 2, 2012, and his current term expired on July 1, 2018.[2]

On April 28, 2016, President Barack Obama nominated him to serve as an Article III federal judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida.[3] On January 3, 2017, Lammens' nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[4]

Education

Lammens received his bachelor's degree with high honors, and his J.D., Order of the Coif with high honors, from the University of Florida.[3]

President Obama nominated Lammens to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida on April 28, 2016, to serve as an Article III federal judge. Obama stated, regarding Lammens and seven other nominees, "Throughout their careers, these nominees have displayed unwavering commitment to justice and integrity ... Their records are distinguished and impressive, and I am confident that they will serve the American people well from the United States District Court bench. I am honored to nominate them today."[3]

The American Bar Association rated Lammens Unanimously Well Qualified for the nomination.[5]

On January 3, 2017, Lammens' nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[4]
