Patrick Irvine was the vice-chief judge of the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division One. He was appointed to the court by Republican Governor Jane Dee Hull in 2002.[1]
Irvine was retained to the court in 2004 and 2010.[2] The judge retired from the court on December 31, 2011.[3]

Judge Irvine was subject to a retention election in 2004.
- 420,302 voted to retain.
- 142,308 voted not to retain.[5]
Decisions
Irvine wrote the majority opinion in the 2009 decision, Goldwater Institute v. Phoenix. This decision ruled in favor of the plaintiff, the Goldwater Institute, saying that a large subsidy that was being provided by the City of Phoenix to the CityNorth shopping development violating the part of the Arizona Constitution that forbids government subsidies to private organizations.[6]
