Susan Rubio participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on May 15, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Susan Rubio's responses follow below.[3]
What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
“ | - Strengthen our public schools and make college more accessible and affordable - Make our neighborhoods safer by reducing crime, gangs, and drugs - Create jobs and economic opportunity for everyday people[4][5] |
” |
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?
“ | I’m committed to ensuring that every student in this state has access to a high quality education without taking on any financial debt. As someone who worked hard to put myself through college, this is a personal issue for me. I firmly believe that the education I received was integral to my success as a public school teacher, as a bookkeeper, and as a Councilwoman. Due to the high cost of college tuition, many hard working San Gabriel Valley residents are being forced to forgo higher education – that’s unacceptable. We must provide everyone with an opportunity to attend college in order to ensure that hard working San Gabriel Valley residents find good paying jobs.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[5]

” |
Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Susan Rubio answered the following:
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
“ | My very first job was with Yoshinoya as a cashier in Downtown Los Angeles.[5] | ” |

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
