Campaign website
Araujo’s campaign website stated the following:
“ |
I’m running for Secretary of State because Nevadans deserve a voting system that protects the fundamental right of every eligible voter to have their vote counted, no matter who they are or what they believe. This core principle binds us together, and we must continue to fight for and protect this fundamental right. We need a Secretary of State who wants to help every eligible voter participate in our democracy — whether it’s closing the gap between early voting and election day, or allowing same-day and automatic voter registration. People fought and died for our right to vote in free and accessible elections, yet our Secretary of State has sought to politicize these issues for partisan gains. I believe an open government depends on fair elections and that will be my guiding principle in office. I am just as passionate about modernizing the way we do business in Nevada. It’s often said that most people will only get to know our state government through their interaction with the Secretary of State’s office. That interaction must be streamlined and efficient. The private sector moves at lightning speed and we should utilize the knowledge they bring to the table. We’re fortunate to have tech companies like Google, Amazon and Apple expanding operations in Nevada and I believe we can harness their innovations to bring our SOS office up to date with our 21st century economy. States like Georgia now have mobile apps allowing voters to check their registration status and find their nearest polling location. In Michigan, you can text your local Secretary of State’s office to ‘get in line’ virtually to speed up the process of filling out your paperwork to start a new business. These are smart, cost-effective ideas that could make Nevadans’ lives easier. That’s the kind of forward-thinking leadership I intend to bring to the table as our next Secretary of State.[9] |

2014
Araujo's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[11]
Economic Development and Job Creation
- Excerpt: "First, we must focus on developing our economic infrastructure and diversifying our state’s revenue sources. We need to actively invest in building a vibrant environment that attracts job-creators to our state."
- Excerpt: "Secondly, our state is very lucky to have residents here who are already eager to work in and grow our economy. It is imperative that our Legislature continue looking for ways to provide them with the specialized skill sets and training they need to obtain good job opportunities and compete with workforces across the country."
- Excerpt: " We must help small business-owners thrive. Greater access to government resources and training for aspiring business-owners can help struggling entrepreneurs add jobs to our economy."
Health and Human Services
- Excerpt: "We also need to better connect our education and health systems to ensure we’re doing everything we can to help children succeed in schools – including giving training to administrators who will have children with special needs in their classrooms."
- Excerpt: "The Nevada Legislature must also address the ever-growing demand for mental health services. We must look to see what resources health care providers need to effectively assist the many members of our community who require mental health assistance. "
Education
- Excerpt: "When elected, I plan to remove these obstacles by creating an environment welcoming to parents, expanding resources available for English Language Learners and their families and initiating a student’s readiness for education in early childhood."
- Excerpt: "Additionally, I advocate that our state should invest more time, energy and resources on our teachers so they have the training and tools they need to be effective educators."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
