Anthony Rendon
Anthony Rendon (Democratic Party) was a member of the California State Assembly, representing District 62. He assumed office on December 5, 2022. He left office on December 2, 2024.
Rendon (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the California State Assembly to represent District 62. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
On September 3, 2015, Assembly Democrats voted unanimously to make Assemblyman Rendon speaker of the Assembly. He assumed the leadership position in January 2016, replacing Toni Atkins.[1] Rendon was replaced as speaker by Robert Rivas (D) on June 30, 2023.[2]
Rendon served as assistant majority floor leader from 2012 to 2013.
In 2014, voters approved California Proposition 1, a legislatively referred bond act that Rendon authored. The measure authorized $7 billion in general obligation bonds for state water supply infrastructure projects. Click here for more information.
Biography
Rendon earned his B.A. and M.A. at California State University, Fullerton, in 1991 and 1992, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of California, Riverside, in 2000 and completed his post-doctoral work at Boston University in 2001. His career experience includes working as the COO for the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, as the interim executive director of the California League of Conservation Voters, and as the executive director of Plaza de la Raza Child Development Services, Inc.[3]
