macOSではライセンスGPLv3のアプリを載せられないので、bashはver5が最新だけど、macOSのbashはGPLv2だったver3.xに留まっていたんだよね。zshはBSDライセンスなので最新版を載せられる。

bash(tcsh)だと、ループ処理時に別プロセスで処理するので同じ変数名であってもループ内ではローカル扱いになっちゃうんだよね。zshはどんな仕組みかしらないけどその問題を回避している。

覚えている人は少ないだろうが初期の Mac OS X では zsh がデフォルトだったんだよね。それを bash に変更したのが移籍したばかりの Jordan Hubbard。マア，デフォルトシェルなんてなんでもいいから /bin/sh を ash にしてくれ。
