Hmmmmm...... thinking of Gravity Falls and the House of Eternal Return.....

For anyone who doesn't know what that second thing is, it's an art installation by "Meow Wolf", an art collective, that's essentially a whole house that starts off normal-looking and reveals itself to break into other universes. If you live in Santa Fe, New Mexico, go explore it. I went only once and god do I want to go again.

The in-universe reason the house was distorted and became a hotbed of portals into other realities is that the family living there lost one of them (a child), and broke time and space to bring him back, and boy doesn't that sound familiar.....

#chatty#im just enjoying myself imaging mabel and dipper exploring the house#or maybe the mystery shack turning into a similar cross-section of other dimensions due to the use of the portal#hmmmmmm#gravity falls#again. go look into the house of eternal return. it rules.#you can crawl through the fridge into a white hallway leading you to other dimensions#the selig family of the house also have multiple sets of twins#and the breaking of reality in the house is driven in part by one twin#being desperately afraid that the other twin would grow apart from them#which. yknow. also familiar.

gravity falls screenshot redraw !!!!

#the church really stuck out to me when watching this ep#i found myself wondering why they chose to place the entrance to the mines in one#it didnt even have to be in a building at all#so it struck me that they made it such a pretty one with an implied history#specially since religion isnt really referenced anywhere else in the show#there's a strange detatched air it gives the location#which already looked so beautifully worn#anyway#lovely redraw!!#captured the mood perfectly#gravity falls

the tonal difference between the art i posted of dipper and mabel on sunday verses the comic of stan and ford i posted just now is... so funny.

#chatty#seriously though i find the fact that stan barely had to try to act like ford to replace him pretty damn haunting#you mean so little to the world at large it takes no effort to step into your shoes.#no one cares that youve changed so abruptly.#no one cares that youve abandoned your old work.#no one cares that you suddenly look just a little off. that one of your main defining features (for better or for worse) is just... gone#no one cares. the one who took your name has done it for 30 years and no one noticed.#horrifying!
