On October 29, Aisha Al-Masri’s life was shattered when her beloved husband, Mohammed Al-Masri, was tragically killed in an Israeli airstrike as he went to collect food aid. He was simply trying to provide for his family when the bombing took his life.

Now, Aisha and her precious little boy Saadi are left alone to deal with this unimaginable loss in a war-torn region.

Mohammed was their protector, their provider, their world. With him gone, Aisha struggles to keep herself and Saadi safe and warm as winter approaches. Their home has been reduced to rubble by bombs, leaving them without shelter or basic necessities.

Today I ate bread that was moldy and rotten.

Yes, as you read it, it is wormy and has a bad taste.

A bag of stretched flour with a disgusting smell at an attractive price of 450 shekels.

#In the past, when the seller called for spoiled, rotten flour for sale, I would tell him what I was buying for. They would tell me, “Animals.”

Today we ate bread made with wormy, stretched flour and we said, “Oh my God, it’s so delicious.”

1 kg of onions 240 shekels

150 shekels per kilo of tomatoes

100 shekels per kilo of eggplant

A kilo of green peppers costs $100 and a bit.

1 kg of Molokhia 60 shekels

A liter of oil costs 70 shekels because they use it for cars.

150 shekels per kilo of sugar

1 kg of rice 50 shekels

A kilo of salt is 30 shekels. There is no power or strength except in God Almighty.
