Thats my favourite shot of viktor, one: bc its absolutely beautiful and two: this is.... somehow simultaneously one of the most heartwrenching and one of the funniest shots of viktor.
Like this is painful bc hes so obviously shocked and scared that jayce would use force on him. Even after Jayce literally already shot him through the chest. I believe its because this is where viktor realised that there isnt actually "another mind at work" within jayce. I think he fully didnt even think that much about jayce shooting him before because he just assumed that jayce wasnt being himself. Viktor never uses deadly force on jayce even though he literally could just snap his neck and be done with it. So he didnt expect jayce to use actual force either. Like he was so fully convinced hed walk out of that room with jayce by his side (preferably out of his own free will, but i think he was prepared to choke him out and then "upgrade" him anyways), he hadnt even considered that jayce wouldnt join him and this is the moment he realises he doesnt have a partner anymore.
But also like...... bro what did you expect gbxgbxhvcjvh you broke up with him, you havent seen each other in months, he shot you, you threw him around, he rejected you, you attacked his (ex?) Girlfriend and then you choked him until he almost passed out, like??? Did you think he was gonna hug you again, like be serious, delulu ass
I honestly believe it says a lot about their previous dynamics in S1. Viktor was convinced that Jayce was going to say yes. Alright. But this wasn’t just because of how heartbroken Jayce had been the day Viktor left, or the fact that his death made Jayce so manic that he retorted to necromancy (which again, holy shit guys, maybe Ximena wasn’t lying when she said her son wasn’t right in the head, yk?).
No, this probably means that Viktor was used to Jayce never denying him anything. And that’s a thought I rotate in my head weekly at least.
No 100% even if they were exes painfully and awkwardly pretending to be bros (my personal headcanon) and even if they were drifting apart more and more and seeing each other less and less (canon), you know
you KNOW
that Jayce absolutely caved literally any time Viktor actually asked him for anything. He probably offered so much that was declined, got so frustrated having to keep his distance, hovered and fussed until Viktor told him to go away, that whenever Viktor was like ‘Jayce could you-’ it was an immediate YES VIKTOR 🥺
No wonder Viktor low key expected Jayce to just accept him leaving, and to be ready and willing to join him months later. Tbh that does just sound like something Jayce would do (and is kinda toxic ngl) (but I love them still)
