Thanks @wajjs for making an excellent point of mentioning the possibility of making international donations for the rescue of animals who suffered the floods.
The flood levels were high (3 m ~ 9ft in some places), so lots of people had to wait out the storm on the rooftops of their houses or they'd be taken by the currents. People waited out the storm WITH their pets there, but unfortunately, many evacuation spots DO NOT accept animals. Therefore, many families had to evacuate their homes and leave their pets on the rooftops, and come and check on them as frequently as they could til they could return safely. Some animal rescue foundations are working to help keep those animals fed, take them to evacuation spots specifically built for them, having them checked by volunteer vets, and contacting lost animals (panicked animals who fled, animals taken by the current, etc) with their families. They're also helping stray animals who are injured, scared, and starving,
There's a specific foundation I follow called "Fundación Planeta Vivo" that is working tirelessly for this endeavour. You can check their activity in this specific crisis, and all others they assisted in, on their IG page
