HOW DO I REGISTER FOR SPORTSCOLLECTORS.NET?

To sign up for a FREE account, follow these step:

Go to the registration page

Fill out the form completely. Please make sure to use a valid email address because your password and instructions will be sent there.

Once your form is submitted, check your email. Your new password and automatic login link will be included.

WHAT IF I DON'T RECEIVE MY PASSWORD?

Passwords are generally emailed to you within 4-8 hours. If you do not receive your password within 12 hours of registering, use our Contact Us Form.

HOW DO I LOG INTO SPORTSCOLLECTORS.NET?

Using your chosen User ID and the password sent to your email, you can log in. You can use the login form in the upper right corner of every page - just type in the correct Username and Password and then press the Login button.

CAN I HAVE MULTIPLE USER ID'S?

As a security measure, we only one user account per email valid address.

HOW DO I CHANGE MY PASSWORD?

Go to the Change Password section and enter your current and new password.

AUTOGRAPH REQUEST TRACKING QUESTIONS - TRACKING YOUR SUCCESSES

WHAT IS AN AUTOGRAPH REQUEST AND HOW DO I ADD MY REQUESTS ON THE SITE?

An Autograph Request is recording details when you send a letter to an athlete/personality requesting an autograph. SportsCollectors.Net is the only site that allows collectors to track who they have written to and the results - using our patent-pending Autograph Request Tracking System.

To start adding your Autograph Requests, simply go to My Account and click on the ADD NEW REQUESTS option in the left-hand nav. Then fill in the necessary fields in the form that will appear, and your request info will be saved.

SHOULD I INCLUDE A SASE?

We strongly encourage all members to ALWAYS include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope. After all, these athletes/personalities are often nice enough to take the time to read your letter and sign an autograph - they shouldn't be burdened with having to pay postage to return your item. And not including a SASE angers athletes/personalities and hurts the hobby.

WHAT MAKES A REQUEST APPEAR AS A SUCCESS?

A request is a success when:

Date Received is filled in (the date must not be greater than today)

# Signed Items Received is 1 or more.

Failures must have:

HOW CAN I EDIT OR UPDATE MY REQUESTS?

Go to My Requests and choose the correct sport on the left hand nav for that request. Find the summary of that request and click the edit link listed on the right. Then fill in the necessary fields in the form that will appear, and your request info will be saved.

HOW CAN I DELETE MY REQUESTS?

Go to My Requests and choose the correct sport on the left hand nav for that request. Find the summary of that request and click the delete link listed on the right. Then confirm you want to delete the request, and your request info will be deleted.

HOW CAN I ADD SCANS TO MY REQUESTS? CAN I UPLOAD THEM TO SPORTSCOLLECTORS.NET?

SportsCollectors.Net currently does not allow members to upload files on our servers due to bandwidth and storage constraints. What many members do is to obtain web space from another provider (there are 100's of free providers) and upload their images using those services. Then, as part of your request, you can enter the URL to your image sitting on another service. We only accept links to files in the .jpg or .gif formats.

WHAT DOES SMALLING, HARVEY, MEISELMAN, OR APONTE MEAN WHEN LISTED AS THE ADDRESS FOR A REQUEST?

These are commercial sports address lists that are available for purchase. All are good resources and highly recommended.

Harvey Meiselman produces several lists, you can obtain info about them at http://www.sportsaddresslists.com. This is our pick as the #1 resource for collectors.

Jack Smalling produces The Baseball Autograph Collector's Handbook #11 available at http://www.baseballaddresses.com. It's updated once every 2 years since 1980 and is an absolute must for baseball collectors. It usually goes for under $17.50 on his site.

WHY DOES MY SUCCESS NOT APPEAR IN SIGS BY MAIL IMMEDIATELY?

Every Success that appears in Sigs by Mail is first approved by a SCN admin. We do not necessarily approve the validity of the success (and by approving a success we do not guarantee it's accuracy, authenticity, or that you will receive similiar results). We do this to try to eliminate abuse and monitor site activity.

WHY DO YOU CHARGE FOR COLLECTORS TO USE THE PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP FEATURES?

Back in 2002, our legal advisors urged us to protect the community and ourselves. It became entirely too difficult to maintain/police a free and anonymous site where members could post anything they wished. This has discouraged members from becoming abusive with foul language, personal attacks, and fraudulant behavior. They can no longer be anonymous to us - as they will need to pay using a credit card.

To help fund the site. We've recently completely rewritten most of the backend and upgraded our hosting servers so the site may continue to grow. Up until 2002, the site was personally funded by the owner since 1998. We feel that $14.99/year is extremely affordable - and well worth the value for all collectors.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT THE SIGNING HABITS OR ADDRESS OF MY FAVORITE PLAYER?

If you are a serious collector, then you should sign up for a Premium Membership. Premium Members can search for a player by enetering his last name in the PLAYER SEARCH form in the upper right corner of every page. This will return all Requests and Addresses contained in our databases. If nothing comes up, we suggest you try looking on the Message Board for previous posts or submitting your own question.

DO YOU GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY OF THE ADRESSES IN THE ADDRESS BANK?

Absolutely not. No information of any kind is guaranteed accurate on the site. This is a community resource that can only be as useful as our members allow it to be. If you send anything to any address found anywhere on SportsCollectors.Net, it is at your own risk. We are no way responsible for any lost or unresponded items.

CAN I REPRODUCE ANY OF THE CONTENT OR INFORMATION (INCLUDING HOME ADDRESSES) AVAILABLE ON SPORTSCOLLECTORS.NET ON MY SITE?
