This document discusses the evolution of geographic data collection and mapping from offline to online and collaborative. It contrasts old geographers who worked offline with new geographers who can collaboratively map online using tools like OpenStreetMap. New geographers have more access to data, tools, and ability to collaborate worldwide which has led to more detailed maps being created more quickly than ever before through the power of many individuals contributing online.
