.Walking Eagle – Everyday Everybody – Shamans of Sound
“At St. Mary’s College, we value our liberal arts foundation – the diversity of thought and expression, creativity, and respect for self and others. We teach students how to express themselves in order to add color and life to our world in a way that only each unique individual can. In this spirit of creativity, I initiated the Mulberry Music Festival in order to bring people together around the universal language that is music.”
-Tuajuanda C. Jordan, President of St. Mary’s College
The 2024 Mulberry Music Festival will kick off activities across St. Mary’s County Juneteenth Weekend. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
Named “D.C.’s Queen of the Blues” by Dr. Nick Johnson of WPFW Radio, Carly Harvey ’07 was featured in Big City Blues magazine in 2018 as one of the youngest blues artists to watch. In 2021, she won the Wammie Award for Best Blues Artist. Her EP “Kiss & Ride, Vol. 1” (2019) is available through Apple music.

He was a Season 24 contestant on NBC’s The Voice, and currently has new singles that will be released this year. He is a multi instrumentalist that writes, arranges, produces and performs all his original music. Soul, Pop, Rock, Reggae, and Funk have all left their indelible marks on him, and it shows in his music. .WALKING EAGLE firmly believes that music can unite, heal, and draw people to the Divine. For him music is fun, life-giving, and spiritual and it’s a gift that he is eager to share with everyone.
DC-based band Everyday Everybody (fka AZTEC SUN) has been performing since 2012, producing an upbeat, retro groove steeped in ‘70s Funk and Soul, Jazz, Afro-funk and Motown-era pop. Their sound and energetic live performances have yielded numerous rewards for the group – such as being named Best Local Original Band by the Washington City Paper, named Best Funk group by the Washington Area Music Association, profiled in the Washington Post and sharing the stage with international and national touring acts such as Galactic, Cory Henry, Burning Spear, The Suffers, Cory Henry, The True Loves, Durand Jones & The Indications, Cedric Burnside, Sunny War and others.
Few forms of music can unite audiences in peace, love, and social consciousness like reggae – and few contemporary bands do it like Shamans of Sound. From bass-heavy dancehall grooves featuring harmonious vocals, to dub effected instrumentals with hypnotic horn lines, this collective of Washington D.C. music veterans has earned its reputation as one of the city’s finest reggae outfits. It’s time to rebuild the vibe and heal the nation together.
Headliner Gabe Stillman and his band hit the stage in high gear as they embrace all corners of American Roots Music with their impromptu selection of original gems and carefully chosen covers. Since landing in the final 8 of the 35th Annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN, and further honored as the recipient of the Gibson Guitar Award, Gabe and his band have been focused on expanding their footprint on a national and international level. A graduate of Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Gabe’s honors include an invitation to support ZZ Top, Eric Gales, Blues Traveler, George Thorogood, and more; he was a Blues Music Award nominee in the Best New Emerging Artist Album category; and The Gabe Stillman Band was selected as the Best Blues Band by the 3rd Annual Central PA Music Awards.
