Need a recommendation for a physical therapist in south Austin following minor injuries.
My mother is looking for a new dentist. She's in an assisted living community in Round Rock (on Sunrise Road, near Old Settlers) and I'll be driving her to appointments. Her teeth are in good shape (no dentures, few cavities); she has no dental insurance beyond Medicare and will be paying directly.
I need a grocery app that my husband and I can both add to/sync lists for iOS (web interface nice but not mandatory). We've been using Buy Me a Pie, but it's gotten glitchy for us and won't let me add him to lists. I've seen this post, and will check out the other recs, but it's a year old, which is forever in app development time. Possible complication: spouse beta tests new iOS versions on his phone for work reasons.
Seeking recommendations for a site with good coverage of books, films, comics etc. centered around SFF nerdery for my RSS reader. I used to read The Mary Sue, but have been meh about it since its revamp. I'm currently trying out Tor.com, but I'm looking for other alternatives. Feminist orientation is a plus, but not mandatory. I don't play video games, and I'm not particularly interested in rewatches/rereads other than on FanFare.
The web service I was using to track which Doctor Who (the classic series) I've watched has apparently died. Is there another web site out there where you can track which serials you've seen, or a pre-made spreadsheet that I can fill out? I'm not averse to making one if there isn't anything already out there, but I'd rather not go to the effort if someone's already done the work.
I'm a fairly pale woman with a bit of farmer's tan from walking for exercise (moreso on arms and face than legs). I unintentionally stopped shaving my legs below the knees, and now I don't want to start again. How long will it be before the dark, sharp leg hair goes away, if it does? My arm hair is pale and soft; so is the hair on my upper legs that I've never shaved. Will the hair on my lower legs grow back softer and paler eventually? What, if anything, can I do to encourage this? Is there anything I should be doing for my legs other than maybe exfoliating a bit more and the usual moisturizer for dry climate? I'm looking for anecdotal experiences and product suggestions.
I'm looking for an app/web site to track restaurants where I want to eat. Requirements: Keeps a list of restaurants where I'd like to eat. Allows me to move them to "liked it" (so I'll remember to eat there again) or "didn't like it" (so I won't) lists after I've eaten there. Needs to have some sort of mapping function so if we're in the neighborhood and hungry, I can say "Oh, hey, we've been meaning to eat at [x, y, z] places. Which would you like to try?"
My husband and I plan to replace our car in the next year, probably sooner rather than later. We currently drive a 2006 VW Beetle, which is a giant dome and is great for my husband, who is 6'4" with a lot of height in the torso. The new Beetles are less dome-like and still under consideration, but are there other current-model small cars that would be good for my husband's height? Bonus complication: we occasionally take my mother (77, lives in a retirement home) out; I will have to get in and out of the back.
Looking for software to automatically rate songs in my iTunes library on my Mac (Mountain Lion). I have Autorate, but it hasn't been upgraded in three years and no longer works reliably with my iTunes library as of my upgrade to Mountain Lion. I've also searched Doug's Applescripts and come up dry. Difficulty: large library (18K local songs) + iTunes Match (made no difference with Autorate but has been an issue with other metadata apps).
Looking for binoculars for mostly outdoor concerts and festivals.
I need to have a post earring repaired. The setting (with the stone intact) has broken from the post. I'm looking for a local Austin jeweler to repair it. I prefer an independent shop, and locationwise, south Austin is more convenient. Thanks!
Looking for console game for low-impact in-home exercise.
Looking for advice about how to fix stained glass in its original window frame so we can hang it inside window in a house.
We've just moved to the southern part of Austin (about 1 mile NW of the I-35/71 interchange) and we're out of our current pet sitter's regular driving range. She's covering us for this weekend and for Thanksgiving but it's a significant extra mileage fee, so we're looking for personal recommendations for a cat sitter in the area for the future, starting with Christmas. If you can find us someone sooner, we'll be extra grateful, but we are covered for this month.
In accordance with cat-related AskMe rules, Linnete and Laudine appreciate your help.
I'm looking for something better than the standard round wire to hold my (very few) keys and loyalty tags.
I'm looking for a listing of the music used in the episodes of the current season (S5) Doctor Who Confidential episodes. I can't find a list on the BBC's Doctor Who site, although I've found lists for S4. An unofficial list would be OK; I'm just looking for a better route to ID the songs than Shazam.
Digital Camera filter: Looking for a neew point-and-shoot digital camera for vacation and hobby shooting. Details inside.
My husband and I will be returning to DC, where we spent part of our honeymoon, for a 10th anniversary trip during the first week in May (May 1-May 7). I've seen these questions, which cover a lot, but we're also interested in events the locals might know about that we wouldn't hear about coming in from out out town. For location/travel purposes, we'll be staying at a hotel near the Foggy Bottom Metro stop and will not have a car. Thanks in advance for your recommendations.
Travelfilter: My husband and I have travel vouchers worth about $300 each on Southwest. We're in Austin and we planned to travel somewhere this spring until today when we noticed the fine print: travel has to be completed by January 30. Oops! Where should we spend this weekend or next? We're geeks, and we like music of almost all sorts, history, and museums, and would love specific recommendations of shows to see or things to do. We've lived in Jersey City and Princeton NJ as well as Houston and Austin, and we're not well-equipped for extreme cold.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
I've been wearing the Body Shop's cinnamon spice oil, sometimes layered with their chocolate perfume (Amorito) for a couple of years. I've finally run out of both and the local Body Shop tells me they've been discontinued. Now I'm looking for an essential oil or perfume with both chocolate and cinnamon notes to replace the combination that won't break the bank if I wear it daily.
Mr. immlass and I are considering craigslist vs ebay for selling electronics/computer gear. Neither of us has any experience with either system as a seller; he's bought a few rare items (CDs) on ebay. Specific questions within.
