Movie: The Star Wars Holiday Special
I saw it as a kid, then again with my own kid in my late 30s.
I hated it, but I loved it. I finally knew the origin of images that had haunted me for decades. Harvey Korman pouring a beer into the top of his head, a torn apart bantha doll, weird wookiees, animated Boba Fett.

Movie: Come and See
The rifle starts the movie. The rifle ends the movie.
The rifle is a character and it finally speaks.

Resident Alien: Love Language
The problem, for me, with the wife-character is that she is the first person who knew the man he killed. She should react more forcefully to his vastly different personality.
No concern or querying about a medical or psychological event.
I found that weird.

Movie: Napoleon Dynamite
I watched this when it came out.
A year later I took a new job and ended up in Salt Lake City on a business trip.
I was dealing with a committee of teachers from around the state. I was previously a teacher and not entirely comfortable with a corporate education job.
On the first day we went to the room where lunch was being served. Lunch was a spaghetti casserole, tater tots, and salad.
I sat at a table full of people I did not know and under my… [more]

Abyss: Entire season 1
I started watching this without having been told anything about it and am enjoying it.
It has shown me that standards of beauty and their variations around the world are just indecipherable to me.

The Expanse: All Episodes
"I'm thinking the thing he recorded was not just his own death but possibly also that Filip is with Marco - since he knows Drummer is close to Naomi."
He also recorded the reveal that the target of the gravity bombs wasn't the Belt. Learning that would lead one to see that the use of Martian military technology is likely to be used against Earth (or less likely, Mars).

Black Spot: Quand on arrive en ville
I screamed through Season 1.
Now that I am on Season 2, I am still enjoying it, but it has taken me a month to get to the beginning of the sixth episode. I put it on, watch maybe 5 minutes, and fall asleep.
The next night I go back and it's the thing I want to watch, find where I fell asleep, turn it on, fall asleep within five minutes. It's weird.

The Magicians: All That Hard, Glossy Armor
I am one to usually turn my nose up at musical episodes, but this one was awesome.
Goofy and pointless at times, yes. But so good.

Movie: Cargo
I loved this movie and I am tired of zombies.
That says a lot.
Also, this movie does more to show a governments response to a strange outbreak than every other movie's deserted military positions and whatnot. The wrist timers and spring loaded spikes . . . gah.

Movie: Big Night
I have made timpano quite a few times.
It is definitely an event kind of dish. I made it once before a buddy was shipped off to Iraq.
It isn't difficult to make (even the crust, don't be put off by that step). It's just a dish that requires a bunch of prep steps (cook the pasta, make the sauce, cook and slice the eggs, slice the meats and cheeses, make the crust, assemble all of the ingredients with an eye to presentation of the slice, bake it in time to have it hot but… [more]

The 100: Red Queen
This episode made me feel like they are writing the same story again, for the however-many-th time. That the characters never learn or grow from their previous experiences.
I hope they prove me wrong.

We call them portables where I am. I've worked in one before and it really has nothing in common with a boat in a junkyard.
My buddy taught in a portable and I taught in a classroom in the main building.
My classroom was much more akin to a boat in a junkyard than my friend's portable was!

Z Nation: The Vanishing
My thought on the head-shot proof Zombies was "Where the fuck is Roberta's machete?"
In real life separating a head from a body is hard, but in zomb-pocal-utopia it's a breeze.
Once the head and the body are separate, what happens to the body? No sensory input and no mouth to bite, so who cares if it keeps running around.
Any more five minutes segments of shooting a single zombie and I might start sleeping through the show.

And when Monty's mom's gambit failed Allie didn't have backup hiding in the woods?

My impression with Monty was that he did shoot his mom in the arm to stop her from hurting Octavia, but she was pod-peopled and it didn't stop her so he had to put her down.
What I found weird was that he later got upset that he killed her because now they might know how to remove the chips. But he was at the drop ship so they could acquire the means to do just that. But as of the end of the show, they don't have a tried, repeatable method which makes his lashing out seem odd to me.

I missed this show when it was on and didn't see it until I stumbled across it on Netflix a few years back. I have no idea why I watched it. Better Call Saul: Fifi
I have a New Mexican friend with a Mexican wife. The live near Bernalillo and the Pueblos up there. I agree that BCS doesn't do a great job reflecting the diversity of the state, but from the stories I hear, you could make a whole other show about the tensions and relations between Mexicans, Hispanic New Mexicans, and Native American New Mexicans without ever once mentioning an Anglo New Mexican (or worse, a Texan).
I'd watch that show.

In my house, we have a former lawyer and a former teacher. There is a hardly a show on television to watch that doesn't engender rolled eyes and critiques of the verisimilitude of the career representation. I think we might just need to bring in a cop in order to never be able to watch a TV show again. My wife rolled her a eyes a good bit at this last episode.

The Walking Dead: Season 6 (All Episodes)
2ht, I don't think calling those novels "dreadfully written" actually captures the full extent of just how dreadfully written they were. It would take someone with a weapons-grade thesaurus to accurately describe those books. Just thinking about their existence has caused the onset of a malaise that shall not leave me for weeks.
I received two of them with a bottle of whiskey from my wife and son for a birthday. Whiskey usually makes me happy. Not this time.
