Research

The research efforts of the Maryland Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling is supported by the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health. The primary goal of the COE is to minimize the risks and problems associated with problem gambling in the State of Maryland. Research conducts a number of different studies and projects to uphold the goals of the COE through developing a greater understanding of gambling behaviors, impacts of gambling on the population, and identification of evidence-based approaches to mitigate harmful impacts of gambling.

The research team consists of faculty and staff with training in behavioral science, epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health under the direction of Jessica P. Brown, PhD.
