This study examines the photovoltaic (PV) landscape-related literature indexed in the Web of Science database from 2005 to 2024, employing a combination of bibliometric analysis software and a manual review to analyze, explore, and summarize the development trajectory and future trends in PV landscape research. Over the past two decades, PV landscape research has progressed through three stages: the foundational stage from 2005 to 2008, during which studies primarily focused on the environmental impacts of PV installations; the developmental stage from 2009 to 2020, characterized by interdisciplinary integration, with research shifting its focus to the combination of PV systems with living and production environments, advancements in PV landscape technologies, and innovations in PV materials; and the maturity stage from 2021 to 2024, which has seen heightened requirements for energy conversion efficiency and stability in PV systems, along with the establishment of a systematic research framework for PV landscapes, enabling more diverse explorations of its development. Based on this analysis, this study summarizes key research frontiers in PV landscapes, including the impacts and assessment of PV installations on the ecological environment, the deep integration of PV systems with living environments, and the visual aesthetic impacts and evaluation of PV landscapes. Finally, this study proposes three future prospects for PV landscapes and briefly discusses the limitations of this research. Full article

White coats, traditionally symbols of physicians’ hygiene and professionalism, are now scrutinized for potential infection risks during patient interactions. This review investigates whether wearing white coats is linked to microbial contamination, infection transmission, and patient expectations. An umbrella review of peer-reviewed studies and guidelines was conducted, with searches in PubMed/Medline and Scopus using terms related to medical attire, infection control, patient perceptions, and discrimination. Ten records were included, and a bibliometric analysis was performed with VOS Viewer. Bias appraisal was conducted using the JBI Bias Assessment Toolset, and a SWOT analysis was developed to support evidence-based decision-making. Findings indicate that white coats may harbor pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Gram-positive cocci, Gram-negative rods, and MRSA. To mitigate contamination risks, it is recommended that physicians roll up coat sleeves during examinations and that the coats receive daily laundering in healthcare settings. However, evidence supporting a coatless policy is yet to be published. Patients tend to expect physicians to wear identifiable attire, like white coats or scrubs for surgeons. Recent research in this field shifts the focus from infection control to the impact of attire on patient trust and physician–patient relationships. Full article

In recent years, civil engineering has increasingly embraced communication tools for automation, with sensors playing a pivotal role, especially in structural health monitoring (SHM). These sensors enable precise data acquisition, measuring parameters like force, displacement, and temperature and transmit data for timely interventions to prevent failures. This approach reduces reliance on manual inspections, offering more accurate outcomes. This review explores various sensor technologies in SHM, such as piezoelectric, fibre optic, force, MEMS devices, GPS, LVDT, electromechanical impedance techniques, Doppler effect, and piezoceramic sensors, focusing on advancements from 2019 to 2024. A bibliometric analysis of 1468 research articles from WOS and Scopus databases shows a significant increase in publications, from 15 in 2019 to 359 in 2023 and 52 in 2024 (and still counting). This analysis identifies emerging trends and applications in smart sensor integration in civil and structural health monitoring, enhancing safety and efficiency in infrastructure management. The resilient city plays an increasingly important role in coping with the challenges raised by economic, social, and environmental risks. In this review, we examine approximately 27,094 papers published in the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) and perform extensive bibliometric and scientometric analyses to identify the research themes, evolutionary history, and potential research trends in the state of the art in resilient city studies. Seven main resilient city research themes are identified, with significant differences persisting across regions. Specifically, the research on resilient cities in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America reveals clear regional characteristics in macro development planning and strategies, technological methods, urban economic growth, urban water resource protection, and so on. The analysis also reveals the collaborative networks among different countries and regions in the study of resilient cities. The evolutionary history of resilient city research shows that it has gradually evolved from a single research field into a multidisciplinary field and further formed a unique discipline. Moreover, the urban ecological environment, urban economic development, urban sprawl, and urban mobility have become key research hot spots and trends in resilient city research. This study provides a systematic and data-driven analytical demonstration of resilient city research, which provides empirical support for policy formulation and practice. Full article

The ocean is increasingly affected by the rise in maritime activities. Increased anthropogenic pressures have led to environmental impacts and also intensified competition for space and resources among various socioeconomic sectors. To mitigate these impacts on marine ecosystems and reduce conflicts, management tools and processes such as marine protected areas (MPAs) and maritime spatial planning (MSP) have become more prevalent. Trade-offs are inherent to these, and necessary to meet specific conservation and socioeconomic goals. In response, understanding and managing these trade-offs has become crucial to achieving ocean sustainability. This study performs a bibliometric review to identify the types of trade-offs discussed in the marine literature and examines their operationalization for the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources. The analysis reveals that trade-offs, particularly those between conservation and development, and the interests of specific stakeholders, are most frequently addressed in the trade-off literature and are typically approached through integrative methods. This comprehensive examination highlights the significance of recognizing and addressing trade-offs to achieve effective marine management and conservation, aligning ecological integrity with socioeconomic interests. The objective of the present study was to explore the pharmacological potential of three Andean Fabaceae species—Prosopis pallida (algarrobo), Caesalpinia spinosa (tara), and Inga feuilleei (pacae)—as well as their phytochemical composition and traditional uses. A search was conducted in the Scopus database, and the bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewer version 1.6.20. The interventions included antioxidant, anticancer, and antimicrobial properties. Tara exhibited the highest antioxidant capacity and phenolic compounds, followed by pacae and algarrobo, with flavonoids such as quercetin, coumaric acid, and isoflavones identified as responsible for this potential. Regarding microbial activity, tara demonstrated inhibitory effects against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, while algarrobo exhibited inhibitory effects only against the latter. The considerable diversity of phenolic compounds in these species represents a broad field for research, where their cultural and nutritional reevaluation may have significant applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries, contributing to health preservation. All studies support in some way the beneficial effects of phytochemicals on human health. Full article

This work discusses the drivers and barriers (legal, chemical, biological, technical) related to implementing a circular economy model in the tire sector in Poland. The aim of this work was to identify and prioritize key factors determining the implementation of the circular economy business model, both among tire manufacturers and recyclers. The analysis of aspects facilitating the implementation of circular economy and the assessment of this type of project in organizations was the basis for identifying the most important factors in the development of eco-innovation in the tire industry. The research process used bibliometric analysis, empirical research based on a questionnaire and in-depth interviews of tire industry employees, and opinions of experts participating in a group interview. Research has indicated that the key to success in implementing the circular economy is to change actual business practices. The basic drivers of circular economy implementation in the tire sector are legal requirements and an organization’s profit associated with the use of circular economy actions. High environmental requirements and regulations that support a circular economy are key factors stimulating eco-innovative methods, but in most cases, these are more of a concern for recyclers than tire manufacturers. This study identified and hierarchized the determinants for implementing a circular economy model and indicated key factors influencing the development of eco-innovations among recyclers and tire manufacturers in Poland. This study aims to analyze the impact of sea-level rise and tropical cyclones on mangroves in the context of global climate change from 1993 to 2023, and to explore the development status, co-operative relationships and future trends in this research field. In order to analyze future research directions for mangroves in the context of climate, this study also provides an important basis and reference for the development of research related to the mitigation of natural disasters. Using CNKI and the Web of Science as data sources, this study employs the bibliometric tool CiteSpace 6.3 R1 to conduct a quantitative and visual analysis of the research field. The research findings indicate the following: (1) The volume of publications in this field has been increasing year by year; especially since 2010, the rate of increase has accelerated, indicating an increased academic interest in this area. (2) From the authorship maps of the two data sources, it can be observed that the collaboration network is dense, indicating the existence of co-operative relationships among researchers. (3) From the analysis of the keywords, it is evident that, with the rise of artificial intelligence, the focus of keywords has gradually shifted from traditional mangrove mechanism research and ecosystem studies to research on mangroves that integrates big data, artificial intelligence, and high-resolution remote sensing data. (4) As time has progressed, areas of research interest have been shifting from the study of disturbances and damage to mangrove vegetation to the study of mangrove resilience and vulnerability in the context of natural disasters, their carbon sequestration capabilities, and their protective functions against wind and waves. The use of remote sensing technology for the monitoring and conservation of mangroves has emerged as a key area of focus for future research. In future research, there will be a focus on the adaptive capacity of mangroves to varying degrees of sea-level rise and the increasing frequency of tropical cyclones, as well as on what measures can be taken to enhance the resilience of mangrove ecosystems. Quantitative and visual analysis of the development trends in this field can provide a reference for the construction of a disaster monitoring platform for mangroves affected by sea-level rise and tropical cyclones, and can aid the development of research aimed at mitigating the impacts of natural disasters. Furthermore, the integration of remote sensing technology and ecological models can facilitate more detailed research, offering more effective tools and strategies for the conservation and management of mangroves. This approach also provides a reference point for developing a monitoring platform for mangrove disasters associated with sea-level rise and the impact of tropical cyclones. Full article

This bibliometric review of global nuclear energy strategies reveals a renewed interest in this technology as a fundamental part of the energy transition and the fight against climate change. The findings highlight an emerging leadership of China and other Asian countries in scientific production, although the United States and European countries maintain a greater impact in their research. There is an evolution from a purely technical focus to a greater focus on security, energy policy, climate change, and sustainability, reflecting a more holistic understanding of the role of nuclear energy. The 21st century has seen a resurgence of interest in nuclear energy, driven by concerns about climate change, although these topics are still relatively underrepresented in specialized literature. New areas of research are identified, such as integration with renewable energy and advanced applications. Research on public perception and social acceptance has gained sophistication. Surprisingly, an apparent lack of scientific interest in international collaboration is detected, despite its recognized importance in addressing global challenges and promoting the peaceful use of nuclear energy. This analysis provides a comprehensive overview of the current status and future trends in nuclear energy research and strategies. Full article

Estuarine ecosystems hold significant importance within global ecosystems, and modeling serves as a crucial tool for analyzing them. With the continuous progress in this field, systematically reviewing the research on estuarine ecosystem modeling has become increasingly necessary, providing essential support for future advancements in this domain. This study employs bibliometric methods to analyze the relevant literature on estuarine ecosystem modeling from the Web of Science database, evaluating development trends, research status, hotspots, and regional characteristics. The results reveal that, since 1978, the number of publications related to estuarine ecosystem modeling has shown a general upward trend, attracting widespread attention from research institutions worldwide, with the United States leading in this field. The analysis of high-frequency keywords indicates that many scholars have conducted in-depth studies on estuarine ecosystems using modeling approaches, with “eutrophication” being a research hotspot. Cluster analysis results demonstrate that research on estuarine ecosystem modeling primarily focuses on three areas: environmental management, biogeochemical cycling, and food web dynamics. Comparing studies across different regions highlights significant regional disparities in this field. Compared to North America, Europe, and East Asia, estuarine ecosystem research in Africa, South America, and South Asia is relatively limited. Despite the unique ecological functions of estuarine ecosystems in these regions, they remain underexplored and understudied. Full article

Due to the high energy consumption characteristics of industrial warehouse buildings, the demand for energy regeneration technology is increasingly urgent. In recent years, with the rapid development of building energy technology, warehouse building energy regeneration technology has made remarkable progress in energy conservation and sustainable development. A deep understanding of the previous research progress and trends can provide the scientific basis for guiding subsequent in-depth research. Through the bibliometric analysis of 145 journal articles collected from the Web of Science (WoS) database between 2004 and 2024, this research has studied the research trends and progress on the application of energy regeneration in industrial warehouse buildings. This study first revealed the overall development trend of energy regeneration technology in warehouse buildings through quantitative analysis, indicating that related research is growing rapidly. Core scholars in the field such as Lund H. and Mathiesen B.V., as well as major journals such as Energy and Sustainability, have been identified through the analysis of the literature. Five core research themes, including energy efficiency improvement and regeneration technology, renewable energy system design, life cycle sustainable technology, renewable energy utility assessment, and policy support and energy consumption simulation, were identified through cluster analysis. Through evolutionary analysis, this study demonstrates the development process of energy regeneration in warehouse buildings and the critical role played by advances in new energy technologies in the field of warehouse construction. On this basis, this study proposes current key research directions, including energy life cycle assessment, energy regeneration environment optimization, and energy system management. The research on the energy regeneration of warehouse buildings has gradually become an important cross-subject of architecture and energy technology, providing technical support for the transformation of low-carbon storage buildings. The analysis of the current research status, evolutionary logic, and research trends can provide scientific references for further in-depth research and technological applications in this field. In recent years, Generation Z has had a pivotal influence across global industries, with tourism being significantly impacted. As the first generation fully immersed in digital technology, Generation Z members have travel preferences, behaviours, and values which differ markedly from previous generations, presenting both challenges and opportunities for the tourism sector. This study explores studies on Generation Z in the context of the tourism industry through key research questions, including the primary trends and thematic clusters in the existing literature, the most influential journals and authors, and the temporal evolution of research in this area. To address these questions, this article presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of 217 publications on Generation Z and tourism, spanning from 2018 to 2024, sourced from the Web of Science. Using VOSviewer, the analysis maps the main trends, the most influential publications, and the emerging themes, providing insights into how Generation Z is reshaping the tourism landscape. The bibliometric analysis and VOSviewer mapping add a rigorous methodological approach, offering a structured overview of existing research while identifying gaps for further exploration, especially in this emerging field. The study highlights the most published and cited journals, providing a broad contextual view, followed by an in-depth exploration of thematic clusters within Generation Z tourism research. The results indicate that although research on this topic gained attention in 2018, it is still in its early stages, with significant room for expansion. Current studies primarily focus on social media marketing communications for Generation Z, as well as Generation Z tourism experiences and their attitudes and preferences towards tourism, suggesting areas for future exploration. The initial studies that connected accounting and sustainability concentrated on the shortcomings of traditional accounting as well as the boundaries of the underlying accounting philosophy, which typically emphasizes monetary, quantitative measures of corporate economic activity. Some authors believe that accounting has sought to respond to sustainable development in a variety of ways. This raises the question of the relationship between accounting and sustainability and the role of accounting in sustainability. The aim of the paper is to identify different ways of linking accounting with sustainability and to determine the contribution of the accounting profession to sustainable development. This study is based on information that was gathered through an extensive literature review (research publications and research studies [documents]) using internet and research databases and the authors’ own experience. Methods of analysis, comparison, selection, abstraction, induction, deduction, determination, and statistics were used. This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis. The identified correlation between “accountant” and sustainability, reporting, sustainable development, and responsibility highlights the importance of the accounting profession in promoting sustainability and fostering responsible practices. Also, a correlation between accountants and artificial intelligence was identified. Full article

Rainfall is significantly essential in the agricultural sector to increase productivity. However, rainfall instability serves as a potential source of risk, causing crop failure and negatively impacting the welfare of farmers. To mitigate this risk, rainfall index-based agricultural insurance offers financial protection to farmers. There is no information on how to set a reasonable premium in index-based agricultural insurance. Therefore, this research aimed to systematically explore a model for determining a rainfall index-based agricultural insurance premium, focusing on the methods used and their effectiveness in mitigating the risk of harvest failure in the agricultural sector. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) method and a bibliometric analysis were used to collect and analyze articles from Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Dimensions databases. The results showed that there were 15 articles on determining a rainfall index-based agricultural insurance premium, where 4 used the Black–Scholes method and 11 applied other main methods. Meanwhile, no articles applied the fractional Black–Scholes method in determining agricultural insurance premiums based on the rainfall index, providing new opportunities for further research. The results contributed to the development of a model for agricultural insurance premium determination that could generate more diverse and flexible premium estimates as a sustainable method to mitigate the risk of harvest failure. This research is expected to serve as a reference for developing rainfall index-based agricultural insurance in the future and contribute to the Government of the Agriculture Department’s policy formulation regarding insurance programs for farmers. Climate change is an aspect in our lives that presents urgent challenges requiring innovative approaches and collaborative efforts across diverse fields. Our research investigates the growth and thematic structure of the intersection between climate change research and machine learning (ML). Employing a mixed-methods approach, we analyzed 7521 open-access publications from the Web of Science Core Collection (2004–2024), leveraging both R and Python for data processing and advanced statistical analysis. The results reveal a striking 37.39% annual growth in publications, indicating the rapidly expanding and increasingly significant role of ML in climate research. This growth is accompanied by increased international collaborations, highlighting a global effort to address this urgent challenge. Our approach integrates bibliometrics, text mining (including word clouds, knowledge graphs with Node2Vec and K-Means, factorial analysis, thematic map, and topic modeling via Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA)), and visualization techniques to uncover key trends and themes. Thematic analysis using LDA revealed seven key topic areas, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of this research field: hydrology, agriculture, biodiversity, forestry, oceanography, forecasts, and models. These findings contribute to an in-depth understanding of this rapidly evolving area and inform future research directions and resource allocation strategies by identifying both established and emerging research themes along with areas requiring further investigation.
