“Almost every role I do they bring up that I was the voice of Donkey Kong. It brings adults back to their childhood and that is a good thing.”
Richard Yearwood[1]

Richard Yearwood is a British-Canadian actor, television host, director, and producer who voiced Donkey Kong in the Donkey Kong Country television series. He was born in Toronto and his family moved to Los Angeles when he was young. He provided the speaking voice of Donkey Kong for the entirety of the Donkey Kong Country series as well as his singing voice in "Cranky's Tickle Tonic" (the first recorded episode); however, most other songs featuring Donkey Kong were instead performed by Sterling Jarvis. In 2023, Yearwood reprised his role as Donkey Kong in the fan-made short DKC: Return to Krocodile Isle.[2]
