Canoe Sprint 1000m is an event that appears exclusively in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The objective of the event is to row the canoe to the finish line in the fastest time. It is the only event that appears in the Canoeing category, and takes place in Eton Dorney. Bowser, Bowser Jr., Vector and Knuckles can be seen taking part in this event during the opening, and the starting record in the event is held by Team Bowser at 3:28:531.

Gameplay[edit]

This event features four teams of two characters competing to be the first to cross the finish line. Each team has a differently colored and numbered canoe, with red for team 1, blue for team 2, yellow for team 3 and green for team 4. The player holds their Wii Remote vertically for this event, with one hand over the top as if they are holding a canoe paddle. To begin the event, the player must swing their Wii Remote down immediately after the word "GO!" appears, and will receive a starting dash for perfect timing. The player must then swing their Wii remote down again every time the two markers overlap. The speed of the canoe is affected by their timing, with only a short speed boost given for poor timing, but a far better one for perfect timing. When the players approach the finish line, the final sprint begins, where the player must quickly shake the Wii Remote down to increase the canoe's speed and cross the finish.
