Biography

The Stills-Young Band was a short-lived band consisting of Stephen Stills and Neil Young . The group was formed after a failed attempt to create a new Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young album. When David Crosby and Graham Nash were forced to leave the effort due to contractual obligation for their Crosby & Nash project, Stills and Young stripped the recorded tracks of Crosby and Nash's contributions and released the material as Long May You Run in September, 1976.

The Stills-Young Band began a tour in 1976 prior to the album's release, but Young dropped out of the tour when he grew bored with the project, forcing Stills to complete the concert tour solo. The band was together from July through October of 1976. Outside of Stills and Young, the other members of the group came from Stills' solo band.

Shortly thereafter, Stills regrouped with Crosby and Nash to release the highly successful Crosby, Stills & Nash album CSN.
