your right. to me the only version is the 27min- version: Tramp with Orchestra I (string quartet). probably my favorite song of all time. i remember first hearing this as a child in east germany behind the iron courtain at night in bed under the covers. and after about 10 minutes i finally started recording it, thank goodness. still have this very bad recording, and never will give it away. thank you gavin and all the people who made this,THANK YOU!

that whole version of jesus' blood with tom waits is terrible. the music overpowers the old guy's voice too much, the music itself is too clean and disney, and tom waits coming in just ruins it completely.

"Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet is a masterpiece? Will somebody tell me why, because I just can't see the logical aspect of that." If you're trying to define music, emotionally moving music, in terms of logic - then i don't blame you for not understanding the point of the composition.

Heard a shortened Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet on Radio 3 this morning. Instantly downloaded the 24-minute version from iTunes and had the most amazing trip to work. Didn't want the journey to end. Beautiful...

The tramp is, I think, the whole point of the piece and creates growing poignancy as the music develops. I love the picture of a homeless man backed by a progressively larger musical ensemble emerging from the darkness behind him. Inspired!

Yeah, I heard Jesus' Blood for the first time last night and even though I usually don't really like minimalist music and even though I'm a staunch atheist, it really totally got me. One of the most beautiful songs of all time!

first heard the jesus' blood tune in belfast - and with the background story: an orchestral piece written around a location recording of a homeless man singing an old hymn - get's me every time - anything that can move a hard working class aberdonian like me - is gotta be pretty damn gritty, beautiful bit of musicmaking!
