Crossover is typical associated with a mix between "hardcore" and "thrash metal." It's not fusion, which is more of an umbrella term for mixing genres (jazz/rock/rap fusion, etc.)

Crossover on its own is pretty vague. Thrash + Hardcore = Crossover Thrash.
