Rotting Christ

Best BM band in the world. I'm not even a metalhead for the past decade but I can always go for some Rotting Christ.

I absolutely love how their melody has a huge sense of theatricality, in contrast to the coldness and obvious harshness of the nordic black metal. They are able to approach different cultures without leaving aside their Greek roots. forever my fav band.

Honestly, I am not really impressed by the new record. People tend to dislike Rituals and The Heretics, imo both of those albums were better and more diverse. This new one sounds like an excerpt of the band's sound without real character - a bunch of similarly structured generic mid-tempo songs. Other than The Apostate, Farewell, and Pix Lax Dax not much is going on, and I also miss the tasteful solos found on the previous two albums. 6/10 at best for me.

Honestly speaking, when Pro Xristou was first released I really enjoyed it, however it didn't feel that special - i felt that in a way Sakis used an already familiar formula creating it and few songs reminded some of the previous RC material or his solo stuff. Fast forward few months I gave it another listen - well I enjoyed it much more, mind you, I liked the album in the beginning, but not like I did now. And the bonus tracks are solid as hell. Apparently some time was needed, at least for me to appreciate it more.

New album is unquestionably my favourite since Aealo, maybe even their best album to the date. It has lots of great melodies (props to solo guitarist) and a powerful, enveloping atmosphere that takes you a couple of millennia back in every single fucking song. I don't know how tracks like The Sixth Day and Pix Lax Dax can leave indifferent any big fan of metal music. Pro Xristou is the ultimate Rotting Christ experience.

One of my all time favorite black metal bands ever!

Forever indebted to these guys for getting me into more underground black/death. Hearing Sign of Evil Existence and Lucifer Over London in 2004 opened a lot of musical doors for me.

i remember being in a music store in the 90's, me and my brother are looking through CD's. These young heavy metals dude are looking around in the bins next to us, they shout out "yes!! Rotting Christ!!!". me and my brother laughed. ahh good times........

I see Rotting Christ as the Red Hot Chili Peppers of black metal.

1991-1994 classicBM period - GREAT. 1996-1999 melodicBM period - MEH. 2000-2019 epicBM period - COOL STUFF. Similar story like with Behemoth that had 3 phases of development: classic youngster, rebellious experimental teenager and time of maturity when they know who they are and what they want from life (in this case their art).

Why is "Demonon Vrosis" their most listened song by such a big margin? Was it featured somewhere? It is a great song, but the rest of their songs is great, too.
