Winners Bracket
Week 8 annihilated most of the remaining field. Only 4 survived.
Congratulations to the Final Four:
Lions_Tigers_Wings_Oh_MI advanced picking Wisconsin over Northwestern
Northsiders16 advanced picking Oregon over Purdue
RUready4Brazil advanced picking Wisconsin and UCLA over Rutgers
huskerdenton advanced picking Wisconsin
16 contestants got relegated for erroneously picking Rutgers over UCLA (1 of those also had a second successful pick of Oregon over Purdue, but alas), 5 more got booted to the Losers bracket for choosing Southern Cal over Maryland, 2 people were unsuccessful with picks of Iowa over Michigan State, and 1 entrant rounded out the chaos of Week 8 with a selection of Michigan over Illinois. All in all there were 24 relegations and one non pick elimination in Week 8.
2/4 remaining participants (listed below in green) have made their extra pick for weeks 6-10 and will only need/be allowed to make one pick a week through the end of week 10.
2 entrants (listed below in white) still need to make an extra pick at some time over the course of the next two weeks.
As a reminder, you may pick against a team a maximum of three times. If a teams abbreviation appears once or twice, you have picked against them once or twice respectively. When you have picked against a team for a third time that team will appear spelled out, bolded, and italicized. This will indicate that you may then no longer pick against that team.
The standings will now be ordered by the tiebreakers published Week 1.* If there is a champion via tie over the next two weeks, I will recognize a champion per the written tiebreakers. I screwed up, not considering extra picks. Therefore, in the next two weeks I will also recognize a champion with the following tiebreaks.
- Contestants who have successfully picked more wins will be ranked ahead of those with less. This will include any successful pick paired with a losing pick. 2 losing picks in the final week is worse than 1 (no extra credit for the extra pick if they’re both wrong).
- If still tied, then follow original tie breaker rules.
If 2 or more of you make it past week 10, I will go by the changed tie breaker including consideration for making correct extra picks. At that point the playing field will be leveled with the tie break alteration published. If you have any objections to this tie break change, please voice them in the comments this week while we can still make alterations if need be.
Please, one of you, win this season outright or at least 2 of you advance 2 more weeks so this isn’t an issue. Thanks.
Here are the 4 contenders that remain, along with their (Teams NOT picked) as well as [B1G teams you have picked against] ranked via published tiebreakers: (RUready4Brazil and huskerdenton would be 1, 2 respectively under the new, but not yet implemented tie break change as they have already used their extra pick for Weeks 6-10)

Losers Bracket
18 contestants were eligible in Week 8. There were 4 non pick eliminations, 7 eliminations for wrong picks, and 24 relegations from the winners bracket.
There were 4 incorrect picks of UCLA losing to Rutgers, 2 errant choices of Illinois losing to Michigan, and 1 missed pick each for Maryland losing to Southern Cal and Oregon losing to Purdue (The Oregon picker doubled up on losing picks with one of the UCLA selections as well).
21/29 participants (listed below in green) have made their extra pick for weeks 6-10 and will only need/be allowed to make one pick a week through the end of week 10.
8 entrants (listed below in white) still need to make an extra pick at some time over the course of the next two weeks.
I’ll look at the tie breakers for the Losers Bracket again later this week so any needed rectifications can be made by week 10.
As a reminder, you may pick against/have a team win for you a maximum of three times. Any team you successfully picked in the Winners’ pool counts as one bullet used (you may pick against them only 2 more times). Teams you picked against in the Winners bracket are not counted in the Losers bracket picks against. When you have picked against a team for a third time that team will appear spelled out, bolded, and italicized. This will indicate that you may then no longer pick against that team.
Here are the 29 contenders that are eligible, along with their (Teams NOT picked) as well as [B1G teams you have collected wins from/picked against] *both alphabetically:
