I posted this Haiku the last 2 years in Week 6; it’s still relevant:
It’s early Autumn,
The air is crisp, and my foot-
ball team sucks again.
I think it’s time to petition the schedulers at the Big Ten headquarters to please not schedule an ass kicking for week 6 in 2025. I don’t want to have to post this crappy poem again.
Winners Bracket
Congratulations to everyone who made it through the first third of the season unscathed! Your reward is one extra pick which you must use sometime between weeks 6 and 10 inclusive.
In Week 5 there was 1 elimination for not picking. We had our first elimination game of the season as the Maryland/Indiana game had 2 takers on both sides. Those that were counting on September Maryland to win got relegated. Joining them in the Losers bracket will be the individual who picked Washington over Rutgers. Those picks didn’t work out so much.
On the plus side of the ledger, 33 people advanced with a correct prognostication of Nebraska over Purdue. 12 contestants who picked Michigan over Minnesota also advanced, though a phantom offsides onsides kick may have prevented that game from getting interesting in the final minute. Southern Cal had 6 entrants sweating bullets in the first half before Wisconsin remembered they were a midwestern team playing on the west coast. And finally 2 entrants correctly picked Penn State over Illinois and 1 person advanced with a Ducks victory over UCLA.
As a reminder, you may pick against a team a maximum of three times. If a teams abbreviation appears once or twice, you have picked against them once or twice respectively. When you have picked against a team for a third time that team will appear spelled out, bolded, and italicized. This will indicate that you may then no longer pick against that team.
