Since it's an even-numbered year, the cross-town rivalry between Southern Cal and UCLA was played on Chickenshit Saturday. This allows Southern Cal to host their traditional rival Notre Dame at the LA Coliseum in their regular-season finale (more on that below). This joins a bunch of other Big Ten rivalry games; however, sadly enough Lazerz won't be up for grabs between MAMU and Penn State.
vaudvillain correctly answered that Northwestern's 31-21 loss to Notre Dame on November 3, 2018 was the most recent time a Big Ten member football team lost a November non-conference game. Since neither vaudvillain nor his butler ATS, I'll give everybody participating last week the 5 Delany bonus (you're welcome!).
In celebration of Southern Cal's traditional late November game versus everybody's favorite team at the LA Coliseum; this week's trivia question asks the following:
Trivia Question - Of the present-day Big Ten teams, Southern Cal has the most wins versus Notre Dame (37). Which present-day Big Ten team has the second-most all-time wins versus Notre Dame?
Speaking of celebrations, you're welcome for being in last place; so none of you have to sit upon that particular throne of infamy. Here's where things stand through Chickenshit Saturday.
MAMU and wisconsin can become bowl eligible with wins this weekend. I can hit -3000 Delanys if my trend of suck continues this weekend.
(Black) Friday November 29:
Minnesota at wisconsin (-2): my pick - wisconsin. Minnesota is bowl game eligible and wisconsin isn't. Who would have thought that back in August? Both teams have been consistently inconsistent. So, who's going to win the 134th edition of the FBS's oldest rivalry? When in doubt, pick against the team that lost at Rutgers. The badgers get win #64 in the Battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe.
Nebraska at Iowa (-5): my pick - Iowa. Nebraska is FINALLY bowl game eligible for the first time since the Obama Administration. Now they travel down Interstate 80 to Iowa City to play an Iowa team that kicked five field goals to get a win against a bad Maryland team. I so want to take the Cornhuskers in this one; however, with the mission FINALLY accomplished they're due for a letdown. Iowa only needs four field goals - plus a touchdown or two - to knock off the Children of the Corn and cover the points.
Saturday November 30:
Michigan at Ohio State (-20.5): my pick - THE Ohio State University. John Cooper lost four straight to That Team Up North from 1988 through 1991. That won't be happening to Ryan Day. The Buckeyes get their first win against Michigan in this decade, and cover the points in doing so. Michigan should have saved 2 touchdowns and a field goal from last week's jTarpwestern game to beat this spread.
Illinois versus Northwestern at Wrigley Field (+8): my pick - Illinois. The Illiniweks will take the field in The Friendly Confines and spend the afternoon confining jTarpwestern. This thing will be close into the third quarter, before Illinois starts pulling away to cover the points. Bert's probably heading to the ReliaQuest Bowl for the third time (second in three years), while the Purple Cats head back to Evanston to check out how the Ryan Field reconstruction is going.
Maryland at Penn State (-24.5): my pick - Penn State. With a CFB home playoff game on the line, the Nittany Lions will prepare their blue and white carpet for rolling out by rolling up Maryland. Coach Hype will run up the score in this one, while Maryland will be left wondering what went wrong; going 4-8 in a season where 9-3 looked like it was possible back in August.
Rutgers at Michigan State (-1): my pick - MAMU. The State University of New Jersey locked in bowl eligibility by beating Maryland 2 weeks ago. MAMU locks in their bowl eligibility by beating Buttgers on the banks of the Red Cedar. MAMU will savor the 90 minute bus ride down Interstate 96 for some MACtion in the Quick Lane Bowl; while the Scarlet Knights will enjoy their New Jersey Transit train ride to The House That George Steinbrenner Built to play a bad ACC team in the Pinstripe Bowl.
Fresno State at UCLA (-10): my pick - The Sons of Westwood. With bowl game eligibility out of the question, UCLA has a chance to end the season on a high note with a win over Fresno State. They'll do just that and cover the points to boot. The Bruins showed their mettle turning a 1-5 start into a 4-2 finish.
Purdue at Indiana (-27.5): my pick - IU. Right about now Curt Cignetti is authoring thank you cards to the good folks in Norman, OK, Gainesville, FL, and Auburn, AL. Will that be enough to punch Indiana's ticket to the CFB Playoffs? Well, USCe knocking off the Fightin' Dabos wouldn't hurt. What would hurt is a loss to Purdue; which won't happen. The Hoosiers take out their frustrations on the Boilermakers to the tune of like 38-3.
Washington at Oregon (-18.5): my pick - Oregon. Do you really think the Washington team that lost at Rutgers is going to beat the #1 team in the country on the road? Neither do I. The Ducks put the finishing touches on their 12-0 regular season by dispatching the Dogs. Get ready for Bucs versus Ducks 2.0 in Indianapolis next week.
Notre Dame at Southern Cal (+7): my pick - The Men of Troy. Fuck Notre Dame!
