The Early Days

Clifton Davis was born in Chicago and raised in Long Island, specifically Mastic, New York. He’s the son of a nurse and a minister. He holds numerous degrees, including a BA in Theology and a Master of Divinity degree. In fact, he’s an ordained Seventh-Day Adventist minister.

According to a GETtv interview, seeing his first Broadway show, The Apple Tree, inspired him to get into acting. The play starred Barbara Harris and Alan Alda.

Martha Plimpton and Mireille Enos are the latest additions to HBO’s Task force.

The Raising Hope and Killing stars have been cast opposite Mark Ruffalo in Task, a limited series created by Mare of Easttown mastermind Brad Ingelsby. Premiering in 2025, the drama is “set in the working class suburbs outside of Philadelphia,” where “an FBI agent (played by Ruffalo) heads a Task Force to put an end to a string of drug-house robberies led by an unsuspecting family man,” according to the official logline.

HBO has given a series order to a new untitled comedy from Rachel Sennott.

The project, which stars and is written and executive produced by the “Shiva Baby” actress, follows a codependent friend group that reunites, navigating how the time apart, ambition, and new relationships have changed them.

In addition to Sennott, the show’s cast includes Odessa A’zion, Jordan Firstman, Miles Robbins and True Whitaker (“Godfather of Harlem”).

Exclusive: Rome Flynn is set to portray real-life drug lord Frank Lucas in the upcoming fourth season of the MGM+ series Godfather of Harlem, in an origin story of sorts from an era that has evaded both TV and film projects like the Denzel Washington-led American Gangster.

Flynn will bring to life a pivotal moment in Lucas’ life—going from “a country boy from North Carolina” to starting a new life in Harlem. While finding his way, he has “initial friction with gangster Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker)” but “eventually rises to become Bumpy’s fierce defender and right-hand man.” In Godfather of Harlem, Lucas’ story begins 10 years earlier than American Gangster.

“Poker Face” Season 2 is continuing to add to its guest star lineup.

The sophomore run of the Peacock series has cast Sherry Cola, Kevin Corrigan, Ben Marshall, and Kathrine Narducci.

They will appear alongside series lead Natasha Lyonne and previously announced guest stars Giancarlo Esposito, Katie Holmes, Kumail Nanjiani, and Gaby Hoffmann.

This will mark a reunion for Lyonne and Corrigan, who previously worked together in the 1998 film “Slums of Beverly Hills.” Marshall, meanwhile, was a writer on “Saturday Night Live” when Lyonne hosted the series in 2022.

Cola is repped by Stark Management, CAA, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis. Corrigan is repped by Cesd and Authentic Talent and Literary Management. Marshall is repped by WME, Mosaic, and Ziffren Brittenham. Narducci is repped by Roger Paul Inc. & Linden Entertainment.

Deric Augustine and Patrick Keleher have joined the cast of “The Rookie” as recurring guest stars in Season 7, which is set for a mid-season premiere on ABC. The news was announced during Disney’s presentation at the summer 2024 Television Critics Association press tour.

Augustine will play Miles, who is described as “one of the newest rookies at the LAPD. As a Texas transfer, Miles is a ‘rookie’ despite being a two-year veteran of the force.” Keleher will play Seth, another new rookie who “seems like the ideal police officer, but the job requires quick, decisive action — something that doesn’t come naturally to Seth.”

Odessa A’zion, Jordan Firstman, Miles Robbins, and True Whitaker (“Godfather of Harlem”) are all set to star in project, which was picked up to pilot at HBO in March. Sennot will also star in the series.
