“Suits” alum Patrick J. Adams is convinced that “Succession” is indebted to the viral USA Network series.

While “Suits” ran from 2011 to 2019, “Succession” debuted in 2019. The Emmy-winning HBO series concluded in 2023.

“’Suits’ is a predecessor to another very popular show,” Adams said during his and Sarah Rafferty‘s “Sidebar: A ‘Suits’ Watch Podcast,” adding, “’Suits’ walked so that ‘Succession’ could run.”

He added, “They got to be the grown-up [to ‘Suits”] PG version.”

Adams pointed to the overlap of actors and directors between the two series.

Amazon Prime Video has opted not to move forward with a third season of the series, Variety has confirmed. Amazon had picked up a second season of the series after it was canceled at its original network home, Showtime, in January 2022. It was originally slated to air on Freevee before it was shifted to Prime Video. All 10 episodes of the second season dropped on March 28.

The first season of the show was based on the Philipp Meyer novel of the same name. Season 2 of “American Rust” was officially titled “American Rust: Broken Justice.” Jeff Daniels led the series along with Maura Tierney, David Alvarez, Alex Neustaedter, Julie Mayorga, Mark Pellegrino, Rob Yang, and Kyle Beltran. American Rust has been canceled for a second time. Prime Video has opted not to renew the drama starring Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney for a third season, Deadline has confirmed. The news comes four months after Season 2, titled American Rust: Broken Justice, premiered on the platform and had a quiet run.

The cancellation was foreshadowed by the recent casting of Tierney as a new series regular on NBC’s Law & Order.

American Rust has a long history. It initially was ordered straight-to-series at USA Network in November 2017, but a few months later, the network opted not to move forward with it. At the time, sources said the order was contingent on the producers finding a big star for the lead, which didn’t happen. American Rust has been cancelled for a second time so there will not be a third season. The drama debuted in September 2021 on Showtime and was cancelled after one season. The show was revived for a second season by Amazon Freevee, but the show ended up moving to Prime Video, and season two was released on March 28th.

Jeff Daniels as eternally glum police chief Del Harris returns for a widening murder conspiracy in the second-season trailer for American Rust: Broken Justice, which dropped Monday.

After the sudden, mysterious death of a former police officer in Pennsylvania’s rust belt in the rookie season is not quite solved by Harris, to say the least, the second-season trailer for American Rust: Broken Justice returns to the fictional town of Buell, where a compromised Del and Grace Poe (Maura Tierney) try to rebuild their lives.

That’s until the trailer reveals a series of unrelated murders that may add up to a much larger conspiracy closing in on a tight-knit town. “We never really do move on, do we?” Del questions at one point.

The fateful wrench from the first-season finale cover-up surfaces, as does Del fretting over how to protect the murder suspect and son of his sometimes girlfriend Grace.

We’d understand if you were a bit rusty on what’s going on with American Rust. After all, the drama starring Maura Tierney and Jeff Daniels hasn’t aired since 2021.

But good news: American Rust now has a Season 2 release date: Thursday, March 28, TVLine has learned. Where will it air? That’s a little more complicated.

Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney drama American Rust is returning for its second season — on its third platform.

Amazon announced that the sophomore run — titled American Rust: Broken Justice — will premiere on its Prime Video platform rather than the previously announced ad-supported service Freevee. All 10 episodes of the season will debut in a binge drop on March 28.

The drama was originally developed for Showtime, which canceled the show after its first season aired. Freevee picked up American Rust for season 2 in June 2022, with the show now airing on the Amazon flagship service. With Amazon having formally added ads to its Prime Video platform, Freevee programming has been migrating to the larger Prime Video.

Premiering in March 2023 on the streaming service, Rabbit Hole is a spy drama that stars Kiefer Sutherland as a corporate spy framed for murder. Charles Dance, Meta Golding, Enid Graham, Jason Butler Harner, Walt Klink, and Rob Yang also star in the eight-episode first season.

Paramount+ is breaking up with two recent additions to its roster by canceling the Kiefer Sutherland spy drama Rabbit Hole and Fatal Attraction, starring Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan. Paramount+ is in slash-and-burn mode, with the company removing titles as a cost-cutting measure.

“We want to thank both series’ entire creative teams, crews and the fantastic casts for their dedication to bringing these series to life,” said the Paramount+ spokesperson. “Both Fatal Attraction and Rabbit Hole will continue to be available on Paramount+ for audiences to discover.”

Rabbit Hole and Fatal Attraction join Paramount‘s other canceled series, including Real World: Homecoming, The Twilight Zone, Interrogation, Coyote, No Activity, Guilty Party, and The Harper House. Paramount+ has canceled the Fatal Attraction reboot and Rabbit Hole after their freshman seasons.

The streaming service announced the shocking news Thursday.

"Fatal Attraction and Rabbit Hole will not be returning for second seasons on Paramount+," a rep for the streamer said via a statement obtained by TV Line.

"We want to thank both series' entire creative teams, crews and the fantastic casts for their dedication to bringing these series to life."

Fatal Attraction premiered April 30 on Paramount+ in the U.S. and international territories.

The streaming service described the series as "a deep dive reimagining of the 1980s cultural touchstone Fatal Attraction through the lens of privilege, personality disorders, family dynamics and murder."

FX released the official trailer for “American Horror Stories” Season 3, the spin-off of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s anthology series “American Horror Story.” The spin-off features a different horror story in each episode.

The trailer revealed that “Real Housewives” alum Lisa Rinna will star in the “Tapeworm” episode of Season 3, which premieres Oct. 26. The official logline for that installment reads, “An up-and-coming model will stop at nothing in her hunger for success.” The episode was written by Joe Baken and directed by Alexis Martin Woodall.

“Smize for the camera, sweetie,” Rinna’s character says in the trailer. She later responds to a young patient’s concern about a monster inside of her with the question, “But are you hungry?”

Alongside Rinna, the “Tapeworm” cast includes Laura Kariuki, Hazel Graye and Rob Yang.

From the trailer, it looks like Yang prescribes Kariuki’s model a tapeworm to help her lose weight for her modeling career.

Jermaine Fowler, who recently had a role in the horror comedy The Blackening, has just finished up his work on a psychological thriller from Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink, Deadline reports. The untitled project was able to get through production in the midst of the SAG strike by securing an interim agreement.

Written by Sam Johnson and Connor Diedrich, the thriller sees Fowler taking on the role of Allen Perkins. The story follows Allen through various twists and turns on a descent into darkness as he hosts his old college pals for the weekend.

Fowler is joined in the cast by James Morosini (I Love My Dad), Pauline Chalamet (The Sex Lives of College Girls), Edy Modica (Jury Duty), Rob Yang (Succession), and Brendan Hunt (Ted Lasso).

In the 18-49 demographic, Season 6 episodes averaged about a 0.5 rating in L7. That’s down a significant 69% from the first season’s demo rating. Compared to the previous season, Season 6 was down 27% in the demo.

Like the McRib, Weird Kiefer Sutherland was a limited-time-only event that took place between Sutherland’s ’80s and ’90s run as a conventional movie star and then his ’00s and ’10s run as a conventional television star. At the time, I’m afraid many people treated Weird Kiefer Sutherland as an almost disappointing anomaly like, “Man, look how far Kiefer Sutherland’s career has fallen,” rather than appreciatively tabulating all the wonderfully bizarre choices Sutherland was making in films like Dark City or even his one-minute cameo in A Few Good Men.

Kiefer Sutherland's new series, "Rabbit Hole," has all the requisite parts of a corporate espionage thriller. There are few shows out there, however, that — episode by episode — continually upend what the audience thinks is actually going on.

It turns out that the cast of the series was in the dark as well as to how the first season would go. When I talked with "Rabbit Hole" actors Rob Yang, Enid Graham, Meta Golding, Charles Dance, and Walt Klink in the lead-up to the show's premiere, they revealed that they didn't know how things were going to end either.
