"Wow you're home is super nice." It might be a good idea to never meet your fans. It can be super awkward if you ever meet them – maybe even dangerous. Yet another eerie new film about parasocial relationships. Holiday House is a short film created by Alex Heller, who also directed & starred in the indie film The Year Between a few years ago. Heller describes it as "mysterious, miniature movie." A content creator feels obligated to let her internet benefactor visit her workshop. His arrival explores uncomfortable boundaries of a parasocial friendship. Starring AnnaSophia Robb as Shelley & David Brown as Marky, with Antonio Marziale & Adrienne Becker. It is very similar to the other short called Followers about a similar home invasion. I also always reference Ingrid Goes West as the original film about parasocial relationships, where people create extremely unhealthy connections to folks they only know on social media. Freaky!

NBC’s 2025 midseason lineup includes the series premieres of Suits LA starring Heels‘ Stephen Amell, The Hunting Party with Manifest‘s Melissa Roxburgh, and Grosse Pointe Garden Society starring AnnaSophia Robb. The midseason schedule also includes a new season of The Voice with Kelsea Ballerini, John Legend, Michael Bublé, and returning original coach Adam Levine.

The first season of Zachary Quinto’s Brilliant Minds picks up on January 6th, and Deal or No Deal Island season two kicks off on January 7th. January 2025 also marks the release of new episodes of The Irrational, Night Court, and St. Denis Medical, along with Law & Order, Svu, Found, Lopez vs. Lopez, and Happy’s Place.

NBC’s set a February 23, 2025 premiere date for the 10-part nature documentary series The Americas, narrated by Oscar winner Tom Hanks.

NBC is wrapping up its 2024 slate by announcing when shows will be returning in winter 2025. That includes the new drama Grosse Pointe Garden Society. It comes from Jenna Bans and Will Krebs, the creators of the underrated but popular crime dramedy Good Girls. It refers to the ladies of a local garden club who “find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief and murder.”

The show is set to debut Sunday, Feb. 23, at 10/9c on NBC. That seems a good place on the surface, but is it really that good a spot for this series?

NBC today announced its 2025 midseason premiere dates, including the new dramas Suits LA, from creator Aaron Korsh, The Hunting Party, starring Melissa Roxburgh (Manifest), and Grosse Pointe Garden Society, a soapy mystery from Jenny Bans and Bill Krebs. The schedule also includes the 10-part special event nature documentary The Americas, narrated by Tom Hanks with music by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer.

Returning to the NBC lineup is the three Chicago series, TV’s highest-rated drama franchise. The Windy City trifecta begins on Wednesday, Jan. 8, with Chicago Med at 8 p.m., followed by Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.

Legal dramas are going to be leading NBC’s winter lineup. The midseason schedule for the network is finally here, and it includes a premiere date for the highly anticipated “Suits” spinoff “Suits: L.A.” as well as the return of “Law & Order.”

The Masked Singer is back!

A new episode of the mystery celebrity singing competition aired on Wednesday night (November 13) on Fox.

The show, which began in South Korea, features celebrities singing songs while wearing costumes and face masks concealing their identities until they’re eliminated. Throughout the season, the contestants provide clues to try and help the judges and fans figure out who is under the mask.

This season also features Ambassadors, who are all alums of the series, that have a special connection to each singer and will be providing major new clues about their friends’ identities.

During the episode, the Group C contestants – Royal Knight, Ice King, Sherlock Hound, Strawberry Shortcake, and Macaron – hit the stage for performances.

While on stage, Macaron performed “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen.

“Who Are You Fest” is going down on “The Masked Singer” this week, and both Ken Jeong and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg are pretty sure they know who Macaron is. Of course, they definitely have wildly different guesses.

In TheWrap’s exclusive sneak peek at Wednesday’s episode, Jeong zeroes in on clues indicating that Macaron has “been through a lot” and is on a “road to redemption” to inform his guess at what famous woman might be beneath the mask.

“Rose is literally in the clues, and also, AnnaSophia Robb is in the clues because she starred in ‘The Act,’ which was based on her life, which she is now rebuilding and redeeming. I think Macaron could be Gypsy Rose Blanchard,” he guesses.

AnnaSophia Robb is opening up about shaving her head.

The 30-year-old Rebel Ridge actress got candid in an interview with THR about cutting her hair, and getting advice from a friend who did it in the past.

“Yeah, I called Joey [King] before I shaved my head,” she said, noting that Joey shaved her head in the past for roles in The Act, Wish I Was Here and The Dark Knight Rises.

“I was like, ‘Girl, you’ve done this a couple times. Do I do it?’ And she was like, ‘Yes!’”

Rebel Ridge star AnnaSophia Robb is keenly aware that no one could write a more storybook ending to the behind-the scenes saga of Jeremy Saulnier’s latest critically acclaimed film.

The thriller, which required multiple attempts at completing principal photography before finally wrapping in 2022, has reigned atop Netflix’s top ten and various other streaming originals charts in the two-and-a-half weeks it’s been available to stream. The pic chronicles Aaron Pierre’s Terry Richmond and Robb’s Summer McBride as they risk life and limb to put a stop to a corrupt small-town police department in Louisiana.

After the film’s scheduled production was shut down by the pandemic in 2020, Robb joined the cast ahead of 2021’s spring shoot, replacing another actor in the process. A month into filming, former lead actor, John Boyega, abruptly left the project due to “family reasons,” putting the mid-budget film in a precarious situation.

Olivia Wilde and Beanie Feldstein had a mini “Booksmart” reunion Tuesday at Chanel and Tribeca Film Festival’s Through Her Lens luncheon in New York City.

Wilde and Feldstein are jurors for this year’s Tribeca Chanel women’s filmmaker program, which provides industry support and artistic development to 10 self-identifying women and non-binary filmmakers. The jury will decide which of these emerging filmmakers will receive full funding and support from Tribeca Studios to create a short film.

Twice’s Dahyun has officially made her runway debut.

The 26-year-old K-pop star, a member of the global sensation Twice, walked in Michael Kors’ Spring Summer 2025 runway show on Tuesday during New York Fashion Week. The singer and rapper is a global ambassador for the brand.

Before the show began, Michael Kors posted on social media: “Keep an eye out for an extra special guest in today’s runway lineup,” appearing to tease Dahyun’s surprise debut. The brand later posted announcing the singer’s appearance.

"Green Room" director Jeremy Saulnier's latest movie, "Rebel Ridge," is currently sitting atop the Netflix charts just a few days after its debut. "Rebel Ridge" is a stellar action thriller with spectacular performances from Aaron Pierre, Don Johnson, and AnnaSophia Robb, and although it takes some cues from films like "First Blood," Saulnier manages to make it feel distinctly modern.

I caught up with the director recently over Zoom and had a spoiler-filled conversation with him about how much "First Blood" inspired this project, the aspect of the movie Saulnier refers to as "career-defining," and much more. Specifically, I asked him about the ending, which, although I still love the film, I personally think undercuts the movie's strongest message. Some of them treat those differences with empathy and insight; but more often than not, they leverage them for explosive, empty action sequences. “Rebel Ridge” mostly falls perfunctorily in the latter category.

Written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier (“Green Room”), the film’s focus on a Black soldier adds degrees of complexity to the conflicts that erupt between him and local law enforcement in a small, mostly white town. But if racial politics (cinematic and otherwise) prompt Saulnier to treat him marginally more thoughtfully than most movie veterans, the filmmaker’s obligations to genre formula end up overshadowing those differences by the time the last empty, explosive action sequence has unfolded.

You might not know Aaron Pierre yet, but he’s about to have the biggest year of his career so far!

The 30-year-old actor is starring in the new Netflix movie Rebel Ridge and he stepped out for the premiere on Tuesday night (September 3) at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.

Aaron was joined at the event by co-stars AnnaSophia Robb, Don Johnson, David Denman, Emory Cohen, and Zsane Jhe, as well as writer and director Jeremy Saulnier. The movie will be released for streaming on Netflix on September 6.

Later this year, Aaron will be heard as the voice of Mufasa in the upcoming prequel movie Mufasa: The Lion King. In a recent interview, he opened up about how making Rebel Ridge helped him prepare for the Disney film.

Review: Jeremy Saulnier has always struck me as a talent to watch. When Sir Isaac Newton wrote his three famous laws — about objects set in motion by an outside force, objects accelerating, and objects colliding — I suspect he wasn’t talking about physics. He was probably talking about Jeremy Saulnier’s new thriller “Rebel Ridge.”

“Rebel Ridge” is a masterpiece of conflict and tension, a crime thriller that begins with a tiny act and gradually builds momentum, never taking an obvious path, until it finally reaches a natural, but gigantic conclusion. On its face it’s a standard thriller about corrupt cops and a heroic ex-marine seeking justice. At its core… that’s what it is too. But it’s as excellent and as smart and as meaningful as a movie with those tried-and-true tropes can possibly be.

The films of Jeremy Saulnier have staked out a unique space in film culture over the last decade. They’re not supernatural or overtly horrific enough to be classified as “Elevated Horror” (that once-proud moniker that now garners nearly as much derision as fawning), but calling them “Elevated Suspense” feels about right. And Saulnier’s films even share a favorite trope with Alfred Hitchcock, the Master of Suspense himself: that of the wrong man in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Jeremy Saulnier’s Rebel Ridge is a race thriller that, up to a point, is as effective as they come. A Black man, Terry Richmond (Aaron Pierre), is racing down a Louisiana backroad on his bike, Iron Maiden’s “The Number of the Beast” blasting on his headphones. From there, he’s promptly rear-ended and thrown off his bike by a cop car in pursuit, held up at gunpoint, and thrown against the car by two officers. For some 15 minutes, we’re simply bearing witness to the kind of traffic stop that’s gotten so many Black people killed, and Saulnier twists the knife by expertly modulating the tension between the cops clearly looking for any reason to bust out the weaponry and Terry refusing to capitulate to his clear harassment.

Violence doesn’t ignite here, thanks to Terry unbelievably maintaining a cool head, but the traffic stop still ends...

At one point, Jeremy Saulnier was one of the most exciting indie filmmakers in the scene. Once upon a time, such an auspicious start to a career would have lent itself to a bout in Hollywood, but Saulnier has instead chosen to take the route of straight-to-streaming action flicks. His latest outing, Rebel Ridge, certainly shows his personality, keeping it from descending to the level of some of the slop we see on streaming these days. Still, it doesn’t quite match the level of his earlier outings, settling for being merely entertaining.

Throughout his series of 21st-century suspense pictures, director Jeremy Saulnier has figured out a number of ways to tighten the screws on his characters and his audience: forcing regular folks to face down horrific violence, stranding characters in the unnerving quiet of American backwoods, exploring and exposing the impractical messiness of revenge.

Daisy Edgar-Jones and AnnaSophia Robb were among the stars who took in one of Los Angeles residents’ favorite summer activities this weekend: graveyard movie screenings from Cinespia!

The actresses stepped out for Labor Day Weekend screenings at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, presented by Amazon MGM Studios.

AnnaSophia was in attendance for a screening of The Shining on Saturday (August 31) while Daisy went to a screening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on Sunday (September 1).

The outdoor Cinespia movie screening series shows classic movies all summer long. Events are scheduled through the end of October, including some spooky Halloween classics like Trick ‘R Treat and Suspiria.
