According to new McKinsey & Company research, there are over 62 million Latinos living in the United States who not only account for more than $3 trillion of Gdp but are also avid consumers of film and TV. US Latinos account for 24 percent of box office ticket sales and 24 percent of streaming subscribers. Yet somehow, there still aren't enough Latines behind and in front of the camera even though our viewership doubles when we see ourselves represented on or off screen.
Today, we still don't have enough TV programming that accurately represents us - and the few shows that have been created for us and by us, like "Vida," "One Day at a Time," "Promised Land," and "Gentefied," were eventually all canceled despite their popularity. Among these many cancellations was Dominican American creator Claudia Forestieri's beloved "Gordita Chronicles," which was released in June 2022 on HBO Max and was canceled after just one season.

After 148 days of striking, Writers Guild of America members put down their picket signs and picked up their pencils, heading back to work with a tentative agreement in hand. Still marching outside studio gates are SAG-AFTRA members, but they aren’t alone.
On Friday morning, several days after the WGA landed its historic deal with the AMPTP and before SAG-AFTRA returns to the table Oct. 2, there was a massive turnout on the picket line outside the Warner Bros. lot, with over 600 people in attendance, according to SAG-AFTRA.
Members appeared emboldened by the WGA deal and what it could mean for their upcoming talks. “It definitely gave me hope,” said Ghostbusters actor Ernie Hudson of the WGA deal. “It gave me encouragement that the execs are at least willing to try.” A joint statement on Wednesday from the AMPTP and the performers union about Monday’s return to talks noted that...

Glamorous has quite a bit of ground to cover in its first season finale, from Venetia’s dramatic return as Madolyn’s new creative executive to Marco’s eye-opening encounter with Parker… and Parker’s not-twin boyfriend (played by the very same actor).

Netflix has released the trailer for upcoming series Glamorous, out June 22, which sees Kim Cattrall take on the role of Madelyn Addison, a “supermodel of the world”-turned makeup business mogul who hires a young queer person obsessed with makeup. ‘Glamorous’ Trailer: Kim Cattrall Gets Her ‘Devil Wears Prada’ Moment in Netflix Queer Comedy Series
Netflix’s upcoming series “Glamorous” is like “The Devil Wears Prada” if Meryl Streep were replaced by “Sex and the City’s” Kim Cattrall and instead of Anne Hathaway, she hired drag queens and non-binary actor Miss Benny to work for her. The 10-episode LGBTQ comedy series premieres June 22 on the streamer.
“Glamorous” follows baby-faced new hire Marco Mejia (Miss Benny), a young, queer man who lands a job for the legendary CEO Madolyn Addison (Cattrall). Madolyn’s makeup line, Glamorous Cosmetics, is plummeting. Suspecting her business is being sabotaged by someone on the inside, she hires Marco to sleuth around.
“She wants him to be her eyes and ears, to make friends — and find out what’s going on behind her back, to discover what they’re hiding and what they’re stealing. In exchange, she’ll teach Marco everything she knows – but she warns him, ‘This business isn’t all glitter and glamour,...

“The truth’s gonna come out. It always does,” warns Detective Perez (Diana Maria Riva) in the trailer for the final season of Netflix’s “Dead to Me.” She’s addressing Christina Applegate’s Jen, who in the last episodes will continue to be ensnared in the murder investigation of Steve Wood (James Marsden). In its first two seasons, the dark comedy chronicled the fateful friendship and unfortunate connection between Jen and Linda Cardellini’s Judy, and in the last 10 episodes – which drop on Netflix on Nov. 17 – the duo seem closer and more deceitful than ever. Watch the “Dead to Me” final season trailer above.
The third season trailer begins with a mashup of the series’ biggest moments, from the hit-and-run that killed Jen’s husband, to Jen killing Judy’s fiancé Steve, to Judy uncovering a fortune from the canvases of her paintings, and the shocking hit-and-run that ended...

The third and final season trailer for Netflix’s “Dead to Me” is finally here, and the stakes are high — like Jen (Christina Applegate) and Judy (Linda Cardellini) — as the cops start sniffing out Steve’s (James Marsden) murderer and how the two women might factor into the crime.
There’s gun fights, money laundering schemes, the Greek mafia’s involvement and plenty of wine as the two friends attempt to cover their tracks. In one scene, they discuss their criminal namesakes, with Jen declaring begrudgingly, “Oh sh–! I’m ‘Bitch Cassidy,” eliciting a gasp from Judy.

Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini have already been through the ringer in Netflix‘s comedy series Dead to Me, and viewers should expect nothing less from the third and final season.
In a new trailer released Wednesday, Applegate’s Jen wakes up in the hospital after she and Cardellini’s Judy were involved in a hit and run at the end of Season 2.
Almost immediately, they’re both forced to confront the fact that they’re covering up Steve’s (James Marsden) murder as the FBI take over the case from local authorities. As Jen’s son puts it, “Steve Wood is dead, and you look guilty as f—.”
But, if they have to become outlaws, at least they’ll be doing it together.
The final season of Dead to Me promises “shocking twists, unexpected turns, and the kind of laughter you can only share with your best friend,” according to Netflix.

In the third and final season of Dead to Me, it just might.
Netflix has released the official trailer for the Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini buddy black comedy, which returns for its third and final season Nov. 17.
The final run comes more than two years after the second season was released. That season ended on a cliffhanger after Jen (Applegate) and Judy (Cardellini) got into a major car accident after being struck by drunk-driving Ben (James Marsden). As viewers recall, the series began with a hit-and-run accident that killed Jen’s husband, sending Jen to the grief group where she met Judy.

Damian Terriquez (All Rise) and Kaleb Horn (Hardy Boys) have been cast in key recurring roles opposite Miss Benny and Kim Cattrall in Netflix drama series Glamorous, from Jordon Nardino (Star Trek: Discovery) and Damon Wayans Jr.

The long-awaited, much-anticipated third season of Netflix’s Dead to Me finally released a teaser trailer, and it was well worth the wait. The trailer does a terrific job of reminding fans how much we all miss seeing Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini together on the screen.
The teaser trailer was accompanied by the first photo from the upcoming third – and unfortunately – final season. The photo features Applegate and Cardellini at what appears to be a funeral.
Season three also stars James Marsden. Series creator Liz Feldman, Christina Applegate, Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, and Jessica Elbaum serve as executive producers, with Linda Cardellini co-executive producing.
“From start to finish, Dead To Me is exactly the show I wanted to make. And it’s been an incredible gift,” stated Feldman, back in July 2020 when season three was announced. “Telling a story sprung from grief and loss has stretched me as an...

Settle in with a glass of wine, because we have a lot to go over. On Sept. 24, Netflix released a teaser for the third and final season of Dead to Me, hitting the streamer Nov. 17, and we're finally getting some answers after season two's cliffhanger finale. Before we get to the events of season three, however, the teaser reminds us of the dramatic way season two ended—which is helpful because it's been over two years since the second season dropped. Christina Applegate, who plays Jen Harding, is seen in the recap bluntly admitting to her actions, telling Detective Ana Perez (Diana Maria Riva), "There's something I have to confess. I killed...

I remember when there was such a profound lack of Latinx representation in Hollywood that even seeing our beloved Jennifer Lopez playing a Latina maid in "Maid in Manhattan" felt like progress - compared to films in which we were portrayed as sexpots, gang members, or drug lords. For years, Hollywood has perpetuated harmful stereotypes of Latinx communities, and this failure to humanize Latinxs in mainstream media, film, and television directly impacts the way we are treated by society. While recent years have seen more positive portrayals in Hollywood, it's been slow.
As a result, we as a community have found ourselves at times overly critical of Latinx films or series; we're often quick to dismiss or cancel certain stories because they didn't get everything right. And while the criticism is often valid - like how Lin-Manuel Miranda's film adaptation of "In The Heights" failed to fully depict the...

Instead, it’s a turbocharged version of mid-’80s Miami as it might be imagined by someone looking back from decades in the future — all neon colors, graphic shapes and crimped hair. Which does seem appropriate given that it’s narrated, Wonder Years-style, by Dascha Polanco as an unseen older version of its lead.
The show’s nostalgic pleasures extend as well to the tone, which is as cheerfully wholesome as any family sitcom you might’ve grown up watching. (In particular, it calls to my mind Fresh Off the Boat, which likewise centered on a family dealing with a culture clash.) And to its plotlines, which tend to unfold along well-worn beats grasping at tried-and-true themes. What keeps it comfortingly familiar...

Maybe in part because the present looks so bleak, it’s lately been a boom time for shows about looking back on childhood. “The Wonder Years,” on ABC, is an update of the 1980s classic, now narrated by Don Cheadle as he reflects on the Montgomery of the 1960s. “Young Rock,” on NBC, burnishes Dwayne Johnson’s image, dramatizing the ‘80s and ‘90s as lived by a would-be wrestling superstar. And now, HBO Max brings us “Gordita Chronicles,” a winsome look at a Dominican family who’ve just moved to Miami in 1985. Like the similar series currently on broadcast TV, “Gordita Chronicles” is nostalgic — both for the time it depicts and a style of television that used to be much thicker on the ground.
That’s because “Gordita Chronicles” is assertively a Family TV show — and not in the sense of the phrase that’s meant to imply that it’s for children.

Producers Eva Longoria and Charles D. King shared their frustrations today at the Produced By conference, relating that studios tell them they looked for diverse crew members, but couldn’t find any. MacRo CEO King and UnbeliEVAble Entertainment founder Longoria said they are creating a database of diverse talent they can present to studios when faced with that question.
“We have to do the work,” Longoria said at a keynote talk for the Produced By conference. “Every time I produce something, I bring my crew list.”
Longoria and King said they share the list amongst each other, and with other filmmakers like Ava DuVernay. DuVernay has gone a step further, creating the Array Crew database, accessible by studios.
Even with a list of resumes, Longoria said producers must advocate for talent to get a chance. Longoria is directing the movie Flamin’ Hot for Searchlight Pictures. She was met with resistance...
