The streamer released a trailer on Monday for the upcoming series, which debuts on Thursday, June 22. In it, Sex and the City‘s Kim Cattrall plays supermodel-turned-ceo Madolyn Addison, who takes a chance on a young gender non-conforming queer man, Marco Mejia (played by Love, Victor‘s Miss Benny), whose life seems to be stuck in place. While Marco appears to be fumbling his way toward success, some close to Madolyn worry he’s bad for the company’s image.

Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini have already been through the ringer in Netflix‘s comedy series Dead to Me, and viewers should expect nothing less from the third and final season.

In a new trailer released Wednesday, Applegate’s Jen wakes up in the hospital after she and Cardellini’s Judy were involved in a hit and run at the end of Season 2.

Almost immediately, they’re both forced to confront the fact that they’re covering up Steve’s (James Marsden) murder as the FBI take over the case from local authorities. As Jen’s son puts it, “Steve Wood is dead, and you look guilty as f—.”

But, if they have to become outlaws, at least they’ll be doing it together.

The final season of Dead to Me promises “shocking twists, unexpected turns, and the kind of laughter you can only share with your best friend,” according to Netflix.

Netflix has released the official trailer for the Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini buddy black comedy, which returns for its third and final season Nov. 17.

The final run comes more than two years after the second season was released. That season ended on a cliffhanger after Jen (Applegate) and Judy (Cardellini) got into a major car accident after being struck by drunk-driving Ben (James Marsden). As viewers recall, the series began with a hit-and-run accident that killed Jen’s husband, sending Jen to the grief group where she met Judy.

The long-awaited, much-anticipated third season of Netflix’s Dead to Me finally released a teaser trailer, and it was well worth the wait. The trailer does a terrific job of reminding fans how much we all miss seeing Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini together on the screen.

The teaser trailer was accompanied by the first photo from the upcoming third – and unfortunately – final season. The photo features Applegate and Cardellini at what appears to be a funeral.

HBO Max has canceled its comedy Gordita Chronicles, a move the streamer says is motivated by a change in strategy at its parent company.

The show, which centers on a 12-year-old Dominican girl (Oliva Goncalves) in 1980s Miami, debuted its full first — and now only — season on June 23. An HBO Max spokesperson said in a statement that the show fell victim to a change in priorities for the streamer.

Gordita Chronicles is set in mid-’80s Miami, but not one that looks like mid-’80s Miami as it actually was. Instead, it’s a turbocharged version of mid-’80s Miami as it might be imagined by someone looking back from decades in the future — all neon colors, graphic shapes and crimped hair. Which does seem appropriate given that it’s narrated, Wonder Years-style, by Dascha Polanco as an unseen older version of its lead.

The show’s nostalgic pleasures extend as well to the tone, which is as cheerfully wholesome as any family sitcom you might’ve grown up watching. (In particular, it calls to my mind Fresh Off the Boat, which likewise centered on a family dealing with a culture clash.) And to its plotlines, which tend to unfold along well-worn beats grasping at tried-and-true themes. What keeps it comfortingly familiar...

Maybe in part because the present looks so bleak, it’s lately been a boom time for shows about looking back on childhood. “The Wonder Years,” on ABC, is an update of the 1980s classic, now narrated by Don Cheadle as he reflects on the Montgomery of the 1960s. “Young Rock,” on NBC, burnishes Dwayne Johnson’s image, dramatizing the ‘80s and ‘90s as lived by a would-be wrestling superstar. And now, HBO Max brings us “Gordita Chronicles,” a winsome look at a Dominican family who’ve just moved to Miami in 1985. Like the similar series currently on broadcast TV, “Gordita Chronicles” is nostalgic — both for the time it depicts and a style of television that used to be much thicker on the ground.

That’s because “Gordita Chronicles” is assertively a Family TV show — and not in the sense of the phrase that’s meant to imply that it’s for children.

Producers Eva Longoria and Charles D. King shared their frustrations today at the Produced By conference, relating that studios tell them they looked for diverse crew members, but couldn’t find any. MacRo CEO King and UnbeliEVAble Entertainment founder Longoria said they are creating a database of diverse talent they can present to studios when faced with that question.

“We have to do the work,” Longoria said at a keynote talk for the Produced By conference. “Every time I produce something, I bring my crew list.”

Longoria and King said they share the list amongst each other, and with other filmmakers like Ava DuVernay. DuVernay has gone a step further, creating the Array Crew database, accessible by studios.

Netflix’s Ya No Estoy Aquí (I’m No Longer Here), Hulu’s Love Victor and FX’s Pose were among the top winners at this year’s Imagen Awards recognizing Latinas and Latinos in the entertainment industry who work both in front of and behind the camera.

Hosted by Aida Rodriguez, Chuey Martinez, Isabella Gomez and Karrie Martin Lachney, the 2021 Imagen Awards were announced last night during a live-streamed ceremony. The 36th annual awards winners were determined by an independent panel of entertainment industry executives and Latina and Latino community leaders.

The theme of this year’s Imagen Awards was “A Celebration of Our Community: Diverse, Talented, and United.” Each year the Awards recognize an array of Latino talent by honoring and celebrating ground-breaking performances, storytelling, and powerful diverse programs.
