    Submission Deadline: November 30, 2022

    Guest Editor

    Dr. Bernhard Ryffel E-Mail

Professor, INEM, UMR7355, CNRS, University of Orleans, France

Research Keywords: Mechanisms of inflammation, innate immune danger sensing, inflammasome activation, IL-33 and Th17/Th22 differentiation

    About the Special Issue

Cells stress or death causes the release of danger signals such as nucleic acids activating inflammatory pathways. The focus here is the role of free nucleic acids driven inflammatory respiratory diseases due to exposure to smoke, pollutants including ozone, chemicals, allergen and infection resulting in chronic progressive inflammation, emphysema,  fibrosis and systemic effects. The cellular mechanisms of cGAS and STING activation, the cross-talk with the inflammasomes and related pathways are reviewed and potential therapeutic targets are welcome.

    Keywords: DNA, lung, inflammation
