What is Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)?
PHP provide a level of intensive care for individuals struggling with substance use disorders without requiring them to live at a treatment facility. Also called day treatment for behavioral health issues without requiring an overnight stay.
We offer clients another level of care in addition to the other continuum of behavioral health programs within the clinic. Our program is comprised of medical staff and addition counselors using a variety of modalities for addiction treatment.
Our team understands that addiction is a multifaceted mental disorder that is not healed by one therapeutic method alone. Our team will use such methods as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to determine negative thought patterns that may lead to unhealthy behavior, Individual Counseling with a therapist to delve and identify issues surrounding substance use, Group Therapy which gives clients the opportunity to relate to others with similar struggles; Support Groups and Wellness Programs that focus on nutrition, fitness, relaxation, and recreational activities.
What is the difference between daily Intensive Outpatient (IOP) vs PHP vs Residential Treatment facility?
-
Intensive Outpatient treatment requires the least number of weekly treatment hours per week. Usually 2-4 hours per day for 3-4 days per week; making it easier for a person to schedule their treatment around work or other obligations.
-
Partial Hospitalization is a daily treatment program requiring an individual to spend the day in a facility during treatment, when most of a person’s day (4-6 hours) is spent in sessions to provide the most comprehensive care and the client may return home. An individual’s home life can play a large role in their treatment success. If family members encourage negative habits like substance abuse, it can be very hard for a person to live at home during treatment and therefore may best benefit more from an inpatient residential treatment program.
-
Residential Treatment requires an individual to live in an in-patient 24 hour care and support facility where most of a person’s day is spent in treatment sessions to provide a more intensive level of services. Usually a medical professional will assess how long someone needs to be in treatment based on the severity of addiction and other co-occurring disorders.
