Toros salvage derby draw

The RGV FC Toros settled for a draw against San Antonio FC on the road despite having 10-men for 60 minutes. San Antonio opened the scoring when Jack Barmby slotted a shot passed Nico Corti in the 14th minute. Then in the 31st minute the Toros lost Alejandro Fuenmayor to a red card following a challenge to Frank Lopez in a last man obstruction signaled by the linesman. Facing a must win situation the Toros had to face an uphill battle as it only got worse as Christian Parano added a second goal for San Antonio to make it 2-0 at the break.

During the second half, the Toros having already used a substitution it only seemed fitting for Carlos Small to enter the game giving the Toros a much needed lifeline. The Panamanian forward came off the bench for Michael Salazar. Small made a big impact as he got a goal back off a corner kick to make it 2-1 game in the 75th minute. The assist came from Isidro Martinez. The Toros were able to equalize on an own goal in the 80th minute which was scored by Ebenezer Ackon.

The result was a miraculous one for the Toros as they were a man down for almost an hour and giving up another early goal. The Toros remain winless when giving up the first goal. Also the road form has not improved but the silver lining to it is the fact they have been able to recover from early deficits.

Whats next for the Toros?

A home match versus El Paso Locomotive. A team that they have not seen since very early in the season.
