Frothing on the Love for our new track 'Sweet Life'.
The Appointments meld reggae, rock, soul, and roots into a flavour of their own. Distilling infectious grooves and melodies into a sound that shatters inhibitions. Never one to shy away from a spicy rhythm and timeless hook, The Appointments' shows have folks dancing with strangers, and singing lyrics days after the show.
Sonically, the band draws heavily from Bob Marley and the Wailers, Fela Kuti, My Morning Jacket, Van Morrison, Chronixx, and Fat Freddy's Drop.
Each member of the Newcastle/ Awabakal country based 4-piece has lived in the group's Merewether share house at one point or another, creating a raw, subconscious chemistry only found by sharing space.
Rhys (Guitar, Vocals) and Eli Love (Drums, Vocals) have been playing music together all their lives, this project sees the brothers creating music direct from their deepest influences. Kurt Speirs (Bass) & Duncan Brown (Percussion) completed the band and continued molding their catalogue of jam sessions into groove laden, harmonically inspired tunes.
In a true DIY spirit, ‘You’re Welcome’ and "My mind's Eye' were written, recorded, and mixed in their coastal share house. The warm, energetic tracks found glowing reviews and spent time on top of the Roots charts of Triple J Unearthed. 2021 will see the band drop another 2 home grown, sun-drenched singles, 'Sweet Life' and 'Go There', en- route to their Debut E.P.
