Layton Greene is a rising R&B artist known for her powerful vocals and emotional
songwriting. Born and raised in East St. Louis, Illinois, Layton grew up with a love for music
and knew from an early age that she wanted to pursue singing professionally long term.
After being rejected from America's Got Talent & X factor, Layton never let her let downs
discourage her. She began to draw attention to herself by uploading covers on social media
& Soundcloud where she quickly gained a loyal following.
In 2017, Layton's cover of Kodak Black's "Roll in Peace Remix" went viral, gaining over 3.5
million plays on Soundcloud in her first month, which landed her in the Top 15 on
Billboard’s Hot R&B Charts. Capturing the attention of major labels across the industry,
Layton found a home with Quality Control Music in 2019, where she signed as the label's
first R&B artist. She released her first solo single, "I Love You ", in 2019, which quickly gained
popularity, and established her as a force to be reckoned with in the industry with over 5
million YouTube views in two months.
Never been one to hold back, Layton's music is characterized by her soulful voice and raw
lyrics, showing her vulnerable side with fans through topics such as love, heartbreaks,
childhood trauma, homelessness and racism that she's faced throughout life. In 2019,
Layton skyrocketed on the scene with her debut EP, "Tell Ya Story", which featured six
tracks that showcased her range and versatility as an artist. The EP was met with critical
acclaim, helping cement her place as one of the most exciting new artists in R&B. In
addition, Layton released her platinum single “Leave em Alone” featuring Lil Baby, City Girls
& the late PNB Rock featured on Quality Control: Control the Streets, Vol.2 compilation
album in which amassed more than 85 million streams and went #1 on YouTube Music’s
“R&B On The Rise” playlist.
In 2020, even though the pandemic put the music industry at a halt, Layton continued to
release new music. Her single, "Chosen One", was released which was well-received by
fans with over 2.2 million views on YouTube further establishing Layton as a rising star. With
her captivating voice and raw emotion, Layton has no problem showing fans the
vulnerable side of her through her music.
After taking a small hiatus from music to focus on motherhood, Layton never lost touch as
she continued to write based on what she was experiencing in her new role as a mother.
