Brian Boncher is a true force in the music industry, mastering every role—DJ, producer, record store owner, label executive, and educator. His journey began at 16 when he won Chicago 92.7’s “In the Mix” DJ competition, securing a weekly slot. By 17, he was a music buyer at Super Dance Records, eventually becoming its owner.
Simultaneously, he launched into music production, gaining early recognition by placing in the top 10 of Sasha’s “Wavy Gravy” remix competition. His track “Ritmo Celoso” held the #1 spot on the Afro-Latin chart for over six months, while his recent remix of Colette’s “Didn’t Mean to Turn You On” remained in the Deep House Top 10 for three months. His releases span labels like Moody Recordings, Moodfunk, Spacedisco, and Guest House Records.
Brian’s impact extends beyond production. Teaming up with industry heavyweight Alex Peace, he co-founded Tru Musica, a dynamic record label, clothing brand, and event agency. He’s also one-half of RUBB Sound System, his acclaimed collaboration with Rees Urban. Together, they’ve gained worldwide recognition, remixing legends such as Frankie Knuckles & Jamie Principle, Lil Louis, Marshall Jefferson, CeCe Peniston, and Colette.
A powerhouse behind the decks, Brian has played top venues and festivals, including Spy Bar, Smart Bar, Spring Awakening, House of Sol, and Even Furthur.
Beyond the music, Brian is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of artists. He spends time teaching DJing and music production, guest lecturing at Chicago universities, and sharing his wealth of industry knowledge. His passion, versatility, and commitment to the craft continue to shape the future of house music.
