Del Water Gap is the solo project of American songwriter and producer S. Holden Jaffe, born in New Haven, Connecticut. Jaffe began recording in a converted storage closet at his boarding school in upstate New York, releasing a self-produced EP in 2012. Following a move to New York City to attend New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, Del Water Gap grew from a bedroom project to a nationally touring band.
Since releasing the Don’t Get Dark EP with Terrible Records in 2019, Del Water Gap has put out a series of singles, including “Ode to a Conversation Stuck In Your Throat,” deemed an “ear-worm track” by Vogue UK and “Mariposa” with Canvasback Music (Atlantic Records). In 2020 Jaffe released “New Song” with Maggie Rogers as part of her album Notes from the Archive: Recordings 2011-2016. He has also collaborated with Claud on the single “My Body” and co-wrote and produced Claud’s “Never Meant To Call.” Del Water Gap has found critical acclaim from publications including NPR, GQ, MTV, and Esquire, who wrote “S. Holden Jaffe’s sweet voice is like love at first sight.” In 2021, Del Water Gap signed to Mom + Pop Music, and released the single “Sorry I Am.” He is currently working on his debut album.
