Bill Dillman

Three weeks before Christmas 2018, I decided to send Mr. Dillman an autograph request through the mail.

Six days later my card came back signed.

Bill signed a 1970 Topps card #386.

Red Schoendienst

I met him at Dunedin Stadium at Grant Field in Dunedin, Florida in 1993, when the St. Louis Cardinals came to play the Toronto Blue Jays in a spring training game.

He was standing behind the batters cage watching the Cardinals take batting practice and I saw a few autograph seekers trying to get his attention. They were mispronouncing his name or just calling him #2 (his jersey number). He looked back at the crowd and said "if you say my name right, I'll come over and sign." I walked over to join the group of autograph seekers and pulled my card and Sharpie out and called out correctly, "Mr. Schoendienst, will you please sign an autograph?" He had a surprised look on his face and promptly came over to sign for me as well as the few others that were standing around.

Red signed a 1970 Topps card #346.
