Artists’ works exploring air quality and pollution to premiere at Galway’s Westside Arts Festival

Public presentations mark culmination of ‘The Air We Share’ residency programme

Galway Arts Centre, in conjunction with Galway City Council, today (18.06.25) announced details of the newly completed artworks created through the ‘The Air We Share’ artist-in-residence programme. The programme supports artists to work with local communities and creatively respond to scientific research on air quality and climate, conducted by local citizens and climate scientists from the University of Galway. The art projects will feature at this year’s Westside Arts Festival, which takes place from 8th to 12th July 2025.

Local Writer Selected for Irish Writers Centre’s National Mentoring Programme 2025

Local writers, Bern Butler, Barry Neenan, and Kate McHugh are chosen for the Irish Writers Centre’s prestigious National Mentoring Programme 2025, following an exceptional response to this year’s nationwide callout, which attracted 354 applicants. Each selected writer will receive one-to-one mentoring from an established writer, offering invaluable creative and professional guidance over the coming months.

Mayor of Galway City, Councillor Peter Keane launched Cruinniú na nÓg 2025 on Tuesday 13 May with a presentation of poetry, art, and music at City Hall from young people involved in the Creative Youth Advisory Group.
