Chairwoman McClain’s Statement on the U.S. House Passing the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act

WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) issued the following statement after the U.S. House passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act.

The bill defines gender based on reproductive biology and genetics under Title IX, prohibits males identifying as women from competing in women’s sports with federal funding, and ensures women and girls’ fair competition in sports events.

“The fact Congress had to enact legislation to keep men out of young girls’ locker rooms is insane. For fifty years, we fought for women’s rights, and I will not let Democrats destroy that progress on my watch. House Republicans are already turning the country around and putting a stop to the madness,” McClain said.
