Time To Say Goodbye

I guess all good things must really come to an end...

Hello Beaver Nation! In the past years, I’ve been able to write in excess of 1,300 articles here at Building The Dam, chronicling all the comings and goings, the lows and the highs and the downright weird and wild that encompasses every bit of Oregon State athletics. However, on June 15th of this year, that’s all set to change.

In the past days, I was informed by our bosses here at Building The Dam that our contracts would not be renewed going into the future here and that BTD pretty much will not exist anymore as it recently has. All I can say to you all about that is that I greatly apologize on their behalves. You all have always been passionate and enjoyable fans of the site and have done all you can to make Building The Dam one of the web’s truly special places to gather. However, as you see in so many businesses now, bottom lines take precedent over everything and what’s really important just doesn’t stay important in the end. It’s the reason why having places like BTD to go to are so enjoyed and celebrated.

When I was hired on as the co-manager of this site back in June of 2016, I honestly had no idea what to expect. The site was doing minimal traffic and along with BTD’s other co-manager Marcus, we were able to transform this site into one of the best places on the web for Beaver Nation to gather. We worked hard. We pieced together an amazing staff and we had loyal readers like you all who loved what we were doing here. We chronicled some of the best moments in Oregon State history, like the Beavers taking home the 2018 World Series and the complete out-of-nowhere run for the men’s basketball program to the 2021 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight. Its iconic moments like those which kept us going through all the bad times and yeah, there sure were more than enough of them.

As we now watch the Pac-12 die before our eyes and we undoubtedly enter a new era for Oregon State, maybe it is somewhat fitting that this is how we say our goodbyes. Beaver Nation, continue to be the weird, wacky and yet to passionate fans that you’ve always been and who knows, maybe we’ll cross paths somewhere down the road. It’s been my pleasure to serve you all for what somehow became eight years. It still feels like yesterday that this crazy endeavor began.

If you ever want to catch-up, you can hit me up over at thecoachsbn@gmail.com and I’d love to hear from each and every one of you. I wish there was more I could say, but as the great Semisonic put it…”every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end”. Now that’s poetry for you, kids.

I guess I should end it like this, for one last time on this what once was this amazing site. Shout it to the rooftops. Go Beavs!
