The BC field hockey team defeated Duke in a shootout today, 11/6. after 2 overtime periods to advance to the ACC championship on Friday vs. #1 UNC. It's the first time I've ever watched a field hockey game, but what else was there to do? I've played and watched sports all my life, but never field hockey. I'm totally mystified by the rules. Whistles seem to blow at what seems like random. There are corner tries, from the goal extended to the side, and the defensive team gets to put 3 additional defenders in the goal, wearing face guards, along with the goalie, who has more equipment on than a hockey goalie. I'll be watching on Friday after I do some research on the finer points of the game. Go Eagles!
